Wow, they are shoe-ins for the "Pointing out the obvious" award!

Never could have imagined that Android with all it's versions and hundreds of phones and devices it's available could somehow be more prevalent in the market than the one phone, one tablet, and one music player that iOS comes on.

Windows Phone 8 is about to generate a lot of buzz. I will be hopping on that bandwagon. I've owned Android and enjoy the experience, but aesthetically think that Windows Phone looks great. Also with the Lumia 900 from Nokia looking awesome and one of the better phones released, it is hard to not expect a great phone to be released from Nokia for Windows Phone 8.

No, it's not. This is all exactly what was said when Win Phone 7 was released, then again when the Lumia 900 was released, we would see a surge in Win Phone sales etc. etc. and guess what has happened? Microsoft's market share has continued to plummet and Android has continued to gain, sorry, but Win Phone 8 isn't even going to make a dent.

Recently Windows Phone shipments jumped 227% ( http://gigaom.com/mobile/dont-count-microsoft-out-yet-phone-shipments-grow-227/ ). This is huge regardless if you start with a small number or not, it is a massive gain. Microsoft will easily overcome BlackBerry in the next year. As they are fighting for the a similar market share and 3rd position in the global phone mania.

As it gains momentum and the carriers start to embrace the third party. Eventually Microsoft will be shooting against Apple for 2nd place. With great companies like Samsung, HTC, and Nokia designing phones for Microsoft I expect great things. Hopefully Asus will join in the Windows Phone Game and give us something amazing.

Of course this is all speculation. But I expect Windows Phone 8 to make a very big dent.

I hope app makers and content providers see this report so that they are convinced to make more apps for the Android platform.

There still seems to be a iPhone bias when it comes to making apps.

Definitely. I still keep hearing the "iPhone must be better since they have more apps than anyone else on their appstore," argument all the time. Android is picking up steam fast. I especially love Jelly Bean.

really? because iOS has 9,983 aps to play solitaire does not make it a better OS, it merely means there are more people churning out crap for that OS.

You're correct to a point, but there are some categories where there is simply more quality content on the app store. Specifically speaking, games. I didn't buy the Nexus 7 to game on so it doesn't matter much, but when I went to download a few to try on the 7" screen I was a little disappointed at the selection. There are quite a few, but there were many missing titles that I enjoy on my iPhone 4S. I would like to move to Android when I buy my next smart phone so I'm hoping it catches up soon!

Exactly my point, but I was thinking more about the 10k+ iFart/soundboard apps lol.

I wouldn't even call this one a race. Give it a year and the market will look much different.
