As much as I love the sound of this, I have the feeling that on the slim chance this is allowed to proceed without the carriers being able to restrict it or charge for it, the adoption and use of these phones is going to far outpace the data capacity of the cell networks. But hey, I'm still on board!

Very nice! If a carrier doesn't disable it, you could tether your phone w/o root! Awesome!

I dont get this at all. The only time I could see this coming in handy is if I was going to be jumped by a bunch of geeks with no internet service. "Look gents I have free WiFi!!"

It comes in more handy than you realize. Any time you need internet access where there is none, and don't have an aircard, you can tether your phone and BOOM! Instant internet for your laptop. Also help avoid stupid costs from airport passenger lounges and hotels.

Steadily the Android's open platform spell the end of Apple's early dominance of the smart phone market. Job's "take and like... or it's to bad" attitude will be the down fall of the I-phone! Yeah
