An Indian-born Will be First Ever Federal CTO

comment Commentsprint Printemail EmailDeliciousDiggStumbleUponRedditFacebookSlashdot

It is now certain that the first ever federal chief technology officer, to be appointed by the Obama Administration, will be of Indian descent. The search for the maiden federal CTO is nearing its coda and now only two contenders remain.

Vivek Kundra is a strong contender as he has relevant experience. He is currently the CTO of the government of Washington, D.C. Indian-born Kundra spent a fair amount of his childhood in Tanzania before his parents brought him to Maryland at the age of 11.

Cisco’s CTO, Padmasree Warrior, is the other candidate. She has also served as a chief technology officer at Motorola. Warrior was also born in India and studied at the much vaunted Indian Institute of Technology. “President-elect Obama and his team fully understand the importance of digital infrastructure to further our technology leadership as a nation”, she told BusinessWeek.

avatarDiversity is great and all,

Diversity is great and all, but I prefer the best person for the job. If that happens to be somebody of 'diverse' nature, that's spiffy. If not, oh well.

Hold on, here's the real problem...

"Vivek Kundra is a strong contender as he has relevant experience. "

Now you know the guy is screwed! Too bad, he probably would have been good for the position. Then again, he does have a pretty creepy smile... more like a leering grin. Perhaps Ms. Warrior would be a better option... anybody know if she's hot? HA! Just kidding... well a little.

avatarI know this is the land of opportunity....

But can we not find any American born people to serve in our government? Or like everything else, are we just going to outsource that too?

avatarOutsource, sir? Native

Outsource, sir? Native Americans were here before the United States of America became a nation. Oh, and this chief officer tech. guy is American. He was just born from a native tribe area, I believe. Besides, you, and everyone else, besides Native Americans are immigrants to this country. So really, the question should be, "Why do we give most outsiders (immigrants) government jobs who's ancestors weren't naturally born here?"
