I hope this comes with gta 5 and watch dogs :) don't really care about battlefield any more or really anything EA does xD

Finally a good reason to replace my 4850 which (save planetside 2 and day z) has been running pretty much everything well still.

My 5870 still handles everything I have thrown at it just fine. Three $60 games, that I would be buying on day one anyway, would be a very tempting offer to upgrade though.

As a side note, I have always figured that the next card I get is going to be NV, but seeing as the next gen consoles are using AMD GPUs, I'm thinking that AMD may be the better choice.

...at what resolutions?

Buy it in the AMD bundle promo...Hopefully you don't activate the game code and your card ends up defective..or change your mind on the card you chose..
If so..when you return the card..they take the price of the game out of your refund...and any other games that were bundled with it that you activated.

"never settle bundle". doesn't sound like a proper name for AMD video cards that don't even support physx for the games they offer.

It sounds proper to me: AMD didn't settle on running games without PhysX as Nvidia was retaining it and so they pushed the envelope on OpenCL (something Nvidia hasn't focused on developing, tragically) with their cards and have even started to implement their own tech that uses GPU compute for PhysX like tasks and beyond. Since they're rocking openCL their tech has cross-vendor support, not settling for Nvidia's "this gimmick is mine and you can't have it" approach.

AFDozerman

You do realize that PhysX is a proprietary NV tech, right?

avatar

Chazr

Last I checked..Nvidia owns Aegia who invented the Physx engine.
And implements it in their cards..

...making it an Nvidia proprietary tech...

hope it is better than call of duty black ops ii. all activision ceo cares about is money, in fact he choices quantity over quality.

I'm not sure if you aren't familiar with this thing called EA... :p

avatar

Chazr

Then again? Call of Duty is Activision..lol

I see what the OP meant..

avatar

Chazr

Well..EA and Activision are both money hogs who care less about about anything else AT ALL..

They each ruined and desecrated my favorite classics.. Command & Conquer and Diablo..

But..Battlefield is EA..lol

I don't understand why Tomb Raider was left out of the ultra-premium AMD GPU bundle. I had no interest in Crysis 3, making it only a ~60 dollar savings for me instead of 110-120, which is why I had to pass.

That said, this sounds pretty cool. I'm still holding out hope for the 8000 series as I've now attained Scorpio and will have it until the 8000 debuts; taking the 7000 would put me in the same position I'm in (being out of the sweet spot for AMD products) right quick.

You didn't miss anything . Game is horrible .

avatar

Thanks for the confirmation. It seemed horrible to me as I saw QTEs, cinematics & Lara Croft being poorly rewritten as a vulnerable character where actual puzzle-solving should be. Tomb Raider should be all about the puzzles and the collectables IMO.

Looking @ Steam I wouldn't have saved much with a free copy of the game as there are a zillion DLC for mild character boosts that should have been in the game: it's like they've Tomb Raider partially a "pay to win" game :(

A zillion? You'll have to show me where you've seen these, because I have only seen a hand full and they were all things you earn through xp. Buying them, I assume, would just make you start with them instead of getting them part way through the game.
I don't get all the opposition to Lara start out 'vulnerable' since this is the story of how she learned to be a badass. You don't think she solved a complicated jumping puzzle to escape the womb, while flipping and shooting her two hand guns at the uterine wolves which chased her until she was safe in the doctor's arms, do you? (I'd play that game)
One part I will really agree is the "tombs" were all way to small and easy.
Loved the game though

This would be a win-win for both EA and AMD. Many people upgraded their graphics cards in 2011 just for BF3, so if they do the same for BF4, AMD can easily rake in more buyers by bundling the game with it.

That said, I don't know if BF4 even warrants an upgrade. I can't see it pushing my system that much harder than BF3 does.

I have an HD 6970 that's been serving me well. If AMD is still doing this a year from now, I'll surely be taking advantage of it. I hope to score a 8000 series, high-end.
