AMD's Latest Processor Price List Reflects Big Time Cuts
AMD hasn't made a big deal about its new processor pricing list released earlier this week, but some of the price cuts do, in fact, represent big deals. We're not talking about just one or two processors either. AMD took its pricing gun and shot down the sticker on more than two dozen CPUs, including several double digit percentage price cuts. AMD's Phenom X4 905e, for example, has been reduced to a single C-note, down from $165, or 39.4 percent.
Some of the bigger price cuts include:
- Phenom X3 405e: $72, down from $97 (25.8 percent)
- Athlon X4 605e: $98, down from $122 (19.7 percent)
- Phenom X4 910e: $143, down from $175 (18.3 percent)
- Phenom Black Edition II X6 1100T: $205, down from $239 (14.2 percent)
- Phenom X4 955: $117, down from $135 (13.3 percent)
- Phenom X4 965 Black Edition: $135, down from $155 (12.9 percent)
There are several others that have been reduced by more than 10 percent, all of which you can view here. Keep in mind that prices reflect thousand-tray quantities, so you'll likely find your favorite online vendor(s) charging a bit more, but the percentage of savings should be about the same.

I second the comment below me; hopefully Bulldozer not only kicks ass, but also has a competitive price...maybe Intel should follow AMD's example

Y'know how much of AMD is owned by foreign owners (Middle East and China)? Let's put it this way, Mubadala Development Company (Abu Dhabi) is the largest shareholder at 15% -China through its SWF cronies (Blackrock etc) probably owns more...

I am sure we will be all amazed at how many things we use every day from companies that have shareholders that although they make money off of us, they would drop a bomb on us when they would get a chance=Z *Looks up* Nothing yet.

Considering you can only get Athlon II and Phenom II's, I don't think there'll be much of an issue.
