AMD Will not Engage Nvidia in Battle

Thanks to fierce competition between two GPU juggernauts and a worldwide economic recession, never has there been a better time for gamers to trade in their scratch for the latest videocard technology from either AMD/ATI or Nvidia. The price to performance ratio is at an all time high, but before we get too spoiled on falling prices for increasingly powerful GPUs, AMD has made it clear that it has no intention of duking it out with Nvidia in a price slashing war.
"Are we interested in winning share by losing money on every GPU we ship? No," said Rick Bergman, AMD's senior vice president. "We're not going to engage in that and we haven't had to."
Bergman's comments came in response to questions about what the chip maker was doing to compete with Nvidia at the low end. But according to Bergman, AMD has been able to entice OEMs with better stability and performance per dollar versus Nvidia's aggressive pricing strategy.
"If you go and look at Dell, HP, or Acer's website, you'll actually see a lot of ATI graphics at the entry level," Bergman added.
Bergman also played off any concerns AMD might have with Intel's upcoming Larrabee, while also adding that in a year from now, AMD will "have something new and exciting," but did not elaborate on what that might be.

Back with ATI and I'm staying

I've flipped flopped back and forth over the years from ATI to Nvidia and I gotta say that I'm more impressed with ATI's visual quality and stability in games. I always spent more money on my Nvidia cards but never seemed to get the performance per dollar. The ATI cards have always kept up and cost me anywhere from $100 to $150 less. I'm doubtful I will ever go with Nvidia again. I put a 4850 in my brothers pc and I have a 4890 MSI oc in mine and I'm liking what I see. I'm not a major gamer but I do like to play when I have the time. I highly recommend any of the 4800 series to casual or hard core gamers. Save some cash get better graphics.....:)

I ran a pair of Radeon

I ran a pair of Radeon x1950 Pro's for about 4yrs before I moved on to a pair of brand new 3870's for dirt cheap! I find the bang for buck ratio to be much better with Team ATI than Team nVidia. Sure, nVidia has a card that performs amazingly amazing, but you'll also pay through the nose, plus both kidneys for it. And even then, ATI's cards use newer, smaller, faster and less power hungry components and achieve almost the same results.
I've been a fan of ATI/AMD for years, and am glad that I've stuck with them. Heck, ATI used to be Canadians, so even more reason to support them, gotta support homegrown business.

Video card war

Personaly i am tired of nVidia taking old hardware and putting new names on it so they can sell them. You know 8800gt>9800gt and 9800gt>gt 220. The card i just bought is ATI and save some cash. Tired of playing my card is faster than your card game. Now i just buy what i need to get the job done at the time and save lots of money.
