AMD Releases Catalyst 10.10a Hotfix for Radeon HD 6800 Owners
Following the recent release of the Catalyst 10.10 driver suite, AMD has made available the Catalyst 10.10a hotfix aimed specifically at HD 6870 and HD 6850 videocard owners. The hotfix adds the following:
- Support for the new Morphological Anti-Aliasing feature
- Performance optimizations for systems with an AMD Radeon HD 6870 and HD 6850 series of graphics products installed
On that second bullet point, AMD promises performance enhancements in Aliens versus Predator and Star Craft 2, as well as OpenGL performance boosts in Prey, Quake Wars: Enemy Territories, and Heaven V2.
You can grab the hotfix here.

The 5770 is going to hang around for a few generations. The 6870 replaces the 5830 and 5850.
The focus for smaller GPU dies (than the 4850/5770) is CPU integration, and the focus of larger dies is efficiency enhancemence and new lithography nodes. The 5770/5750 will sit nicely between those two for quite a while.

Not sure why they're calling it a HotFix. Looks like it adds features, not fixes bugs.

This is exactly what we were talking about on the nvidia post yesterday

What, that AMD releases incremental performance enhancements rather than waiting on the next full driver release? Pretty cool, huh?

They need to compensate somewhere for their lackluster drivers... it makes the user feel like they're actually doing something doesn't it.
