I'll probably grab one when my budget allows. My 2 6950's are doing just fine at the moment.

Newegg is always out when I look anyway.

Putting my practical hat on, I will never need one of these nor would I spend that much money on them. They are a great card, but why am I going to spend that much when I can be happy with a much lower priced card?

avatar

blkpanthr

my guess is you dont play BF3 on a 30inch monitor on ultra settings....

lol

You dont need this card to do that...I'm with the previous poster...at this point, theres no need to spend that much money on a card like this.

avatar

Iconoclysm

No way you can push 2560x1440 resolutions at max settings in just about any game released in the past year without spending this much.  This card is actually cheaper than the "lesser" cards on the market right now which is almost unheard of.

avatar

blkpanthr

i beg to differ...not a chance you can do that with a "much lower priced card" as the op has suggested...

Well, not all of them are out of stock. The Diamond 7970 is still available on Newegg.

avatar

blkpanthr

xfx, powercolor, sapphire, and diamond have been in and out of stock all day.

If you want a specific one right now, youll have to spend a couple hours playing the F5 game...

Also, anyone near a fry's. They are on the shelves in two stores right now. San Jose and Palo Alto if you happen to reside in the bay area of california.

I bought ten of these and put them in deca-sli mode. Tried to play hello kitty adventure island in 320x100 monochrome mode over a 110baud modem in multiplayer mode and the gpu's all overheated due to the lack of AA and any physx requirements. These are just huge heaps of crap, right Nimrod?

That guy does need to lay off the crack. I believe they are appropriately priced for their specs, considering a gtx580sc is about the same price and sucks more power and puts out more heat.

These cards are NOT that impressive. In fact, i would say they are a colossal disappointment. They get spanked by a xfire set of up last gens cards and they are terribly over priced. A lot of us were expecting better things from the full node die shrink, we didnt them.

The only reason these cards are able to sell for so much is because nVidia is no where to be seen with their next offering. IN the mean time, these are a poor show. For the price they are a rip off.

Like everyone bellow said, these are very impressive and correctly priced, considering where the gtx580 sits. The only issue these might have is driver support at launch. Knowing AMD performance will improve slightly through better drivers (at least for single cards, Xfire might be different).

Nvidia FAN BOI?????

The second paragraph sure does tell me something is fishy.

You need to lay off the crack.

These cards are are exceptional.

Ive not read one review that wasnt thoughy impressed by a 30-40% stock gain on last gen and even higher with ocs.

and they are priced right where they should be for the performance level.

You must be one of those "I want 100% performance increase" people.

Dont hold your breath.  The technology is maturing, youll never see that kinda performance increase from either company. Node shrink or no.

I'm pretty sure that NewEgg having them out of stock doesn't mean they had them in stock (unless someone can post a screen otherwise).  I remember when the Antec P280 was "on sale" NewEgg didn't have them in stock for at least a week.

avatar

pk44

Yeah I had one in my cart last night and could have ordered it. I mean, that doesn't gurantee that they would have approved the order but newegg has been good to me about if they say they have it they let the order go through.

avatar

blkpanthr

losts of people have ordered them from newegg and recieved thier tracking numbers already

they went on sale last night.

Too expensive, too noisy.  I'll wait for the cheaper HD 7000 varients or for Kepler to be released (and hopefully competition to drive down prices).

avatar

ashinms

Too bad I can't afford one.

avatar

blkpanthr

NCIX, and amazon have stock right now..

avatar

blkpanthr

these things have massive OC headroom.

Im gonna wait til the custom coolers come out, as if you want high overclocks, the stock coolers need to be at like 75%...

And the XFX Black Edition didnt have any better cooling than stock.

ill pass on the hairdryer....

amazon has the sapphire version in stock
