AMD Catalyst 10.6 Suite Now Available for Download
New drivers are available for AMD videocard owners, which add a handful of new features and a bunch of performance improvements. The Catalyst 10.6 driver suite brings GPU acceleration of H.264 video content using Adobe Flash Player 10.1, video deblocking support, Mosquito noise reduction, and official support for OpenGL 4.0 and OpenGL 3.3.
Performance gains range anywhere from 5 to 18 percent, some of which include:
- 3DMark Vantage: Up to 5 percent on a single ATI Radeon HD 5970
- Batman: Arkham Asylum: Up to 10 percent on CrossFire HD 5970
- Crysis Warhead: Up to 7 percent on all HD 5000 series cards
- Wolfenstein: Up to 18 percent on CrossFire HD 5800 and single card HD 5970 cards
The latest driver release also resolves a bevy of issues across all modern Windows platforms, fixing everything from desktop corruption while playing SD/Blu-ray content on a 120Hz display (Windows XP), to addressing an issue in Windows 7 that caused CrossFire to become disabled when booting the OS without displays connected.

WEI went from 4.3 to 5.1. Not bad for a $370 build. Rest of the numbers are 6.6, 7.3, (5.1), 6.3, 5.3. Thank you MPC.

At least this time, the drivers installed correctly compared with the previous set (the 10.5 drivers only uninstalled my 10.4 drivers in the first run-through).

This set of drivers gave me problems. When installing on an X58 with a 5970 my monitors go black as if to reset windows rendering like drivers normally do, but the display of windows does not come back... I have to restart by keyboard navigation because i cannot see anything... once restarted everything is fine and catalyst says 10.6, just though t i'd mention in case anyone else has similar problem... btw this didn't happen with previous drivers...
EDIT: These drivers are crappy, back to 10.5s
They even say in the release notes that this happens, also any game i run gives me crashed / recovered video driver... and if i use 32xAA 16xAF = Blue Screen...
My next card will be nVidia, i'll never buy a radeon graphics card again, nVidias are simply superior and more mature

Seriously, you're delusional. You should troll around some Nvidia forums and see the kinds of problems they have before saying something so retarded.

Your a prick - how about you not assume things you don't have a clue about. I've owned nVidia cards all my life with the exception of one laptop with radeon graphics. Any time i did have a problem with an nVidia card i did some forum searching and i could usually find a solution. Not nearly the case with a radeon card. and by the way i was simply leaving feedback of my experience with the new drivers and my opinion of the last couple of driver sets... thats not called trolling - you are doing precisely what you are accusing me of. Grow up.

yes driver cleaner... da da da process, and it was more smooth when i tried unigene 2.1 heaven, but obviously it keeps crashing, so it looks promising, but the crashes need to be fixed... tey should include crossfire profiles for some new games... like blur; oh well maybe next release...

I just want to thank you guys for always posting on here when there is new video drivers available. It's always nice to just find out and not have to go out and manually check. Now if only you guys would post driver updates on the rest of my hardware.....

AMD is going with monthly updates, so expect a new version every 4 weeks or so. Tho I admit this one is a little early. They usually don't hit till around the 21st.
