Amazon Starts Shipping Kindle Fire Tablets a Day Early
The Kindle Fire is already the best selling item on Amazon.com, and it's going to arrive on customers' doorsteps one day early, the e-tailer announced today. Kindle Fire shipments were supposed to go out tomorrow, but the $199 tablets are already loaded up on trucks and headed out to the their destinations, and it's anyone's guess as to why.
"We’re thrilled to be able to ship Kindle Fire to our customers earlier than we expected. Kindle Fire quickly became the bestselling item across all of Amazon.com, and based on customer response we’re building millions more than we’d planned," said Dave Limp, Vice President, Amazon Kindle. "Customers are excited about Kindle Fire because it is a premium product at the non-premium price of only $199."
That's Amazon's official statement on the matter, which doesn't tell much. If we're to don our conspiracy theory cap, one reason for the day-early shipping could be to prevent people from cancelling their pre-orders at the last minute in favor of Barnes & Noble's better spec'd (and higher priced) Nook Tablet. Maybe Amazon was planning to ship Kindle Fire tablets a day early all along to create a bit of promotional buzz, or perhaps everyone's just really on the ball.
No matter what the reason, this is great news for impatient customers who put their pre-order in, and who weren't planning on cancelling.

Too late! I cancelled my Kindle Fire pre-order last week in favor of a Nook Tablet. Oh and Amazon? I'm thinking you need to be more selective on your promotional material. That image of GaGa on the Kindle isn't doing anything to make me want to get it.

I'd like to get one for my wife for Christmas, if I order it now, do you think it would arrive BEFORE Christmas?

In time for Christmas with plenty of time to spare. Where I live, Amazon estimates a delivery date of November 22-29 with the slowest possible shipping method (free Super Saver shipping),
