Acer Ups the Ante with Refreshed Aspire G (Predator) Desktop
Acer's refreshed Aspire G, otherwise known as the Predator, sports the same funky orange chassis as the original version, but once you peel back the orange, the hardware gets a bit juicier this time around.
The new Aspire G now sports an Intel Core i7 950 processor (3.06GHz), a ton of RAM (12GB of DDR3 to be exact), 1TB of hard drive storage, two Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 videocards in SLI with 4 DVI-D ports, a Blu-ray reader, Gigabit Ethernet, and other goodies.
There's no mention of the system cooling in the refreshed version, but hopefully Acer has learned its lesson from the first Predator. In March of this year, Acer issued a voluntary recall of the Predator after two owners reported that their systems got so hot, the external casing melted. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall affected about 215 Predator desktops sold between May and December 2008.
No word yet on price or availability on the refreshed units.

Get an industrial designer who has a clue and doesn't get his inspiration from the transformers and starship troopers. You'd think PC manufacturers would have learned a little something from Apple by now...

Not to troll, but am I the only one who thinks this case is hideous?

Really, I'm not worried about the case... it's an acer... while were at it, is there a gamer E-Machine box to look at?

Color is bearable, i guess. as for the front of that case, i think its kinda hideous too. why can't i just have drives showing in the front? a space-age like door isn't a strong selling point to me. i'd prefer if it was instead an airlock, or those de-duster chambers, to keep my dvds and game discs free of dust before reentry.

Who sees a missed marketing opportunity here? OUR COMPUTER IS SO HOT IT WILL MELT YOUR CASE!
They could paint flames on the side, use LED lighting to simulate flames, or set the psu to the wrong voltage so flames shoot out of it.

agreed. needs more flames to show how blazing fast it is!orange i a decent hot color - maybe they should have made it cool blue because it is a cool PC.
