Acer TravelMate Timeline 8481T isn't an Ultrabook, It Just Looks Like One
Acer isn't pitching its new TravelMate Timeline 8481T as an Ultrabook, but maybe that's because Intel is still finalizing its list of qualifications. As it stands, the 8481T is a 14-inch ultraportable that weighs just 3.7 pounds and struts around with a 0.87-inch profile, and that's with the 8-cell battery Acer says will provide up to 13 hours of run time. And though the LCD measures 14 inches, Acer trimmed the bezel by a third so that it would fit in a 13.3-inch footprint.
Powering the new Timeline 8148T notebooks are Intel Core i5 processors with Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2 technology to encrypt files and folders. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 push pixels on the 1366x768 display. Other features include 4GB of DDR3 memory (upgradeable to 8GB), 320GB SATA hard drive (7200RPM) with Disk Anti-Shock Protection (DASP) technology, Intel's Wireless Display (WiDi) technology, GbE LAN, 802.11b/g/n WI-Fi, Bluetooth, HD webcam, USB 3.0, and several security features, such as Acer ProShield Security with BioProtection Fingerprint protection.
The TravelMate Timeline 8481T will ship in early September starting at a penny under $1,000.

Well, this may very well be my next notebook, since the screen of the Lenovo X220 is too small, and I hate the keyboard of the X1 & Samsung Series 9. Let's see if ACER has decent IQ in the 14" LCD.
