Acer Betting on Dual-Boot Netbooks
PrintAcer last month launched a dual-boot netbook, the Aspire One AOD255, in its native Taiwan. The dual-core netbook dual boots Windows XP and Android, with the latter acting as an instant-on OS. According to legendary rumormonger and Acer compatriot Digitimes, the company plans to adopt the dual-OS approach to netbooks as a standard.
Sources from Acer told Digitimes that the PC maker is confident of such an approach stimulating demand. It still has a lot of faith in netbooks. Speaking at the press launch of the Aspire One AOD255, Acer Taiwan president Scott Lin cited Gartner's positive sale predictions for netbooks to underpin his confidence in netbooks. Gartner expects global netbook shipments to touch 50 million units by 2014.

These Acer netbooks seem to be great products. As long as one doesn't need service/repair information. Then you're SOL.
