Congratulations to cjm2112 on your new Maingear AMD Quad FX-74 system! Make sure you respond to the notification email by the deadline you were given in the email! Also, we're all really interested to know how the coffee in the cereal bit actually went. That seemed like a phenomenally bad idea.

Thanks to all the entrants. We had a ton of really good videos posted, and the choice was really, really tough. Please stay tuned for our next contest!

avatarLets not

Let's not shift the complaints to this venue now. The contest is over, congratulations to the winners is all that's necessary, not bitterness.
Despite the problems, I hope there are still future contests that let people use their talents and hard work to win great prizes. If you didn't win this one, just try again next time! :-)

Yikes - I did not enter the MaximumPC contest, but I agree that this (and the PC Gamer contest) were run horribly. Consider the way the deadline was randomly extended, and the way the rules were vaguely worded and selectively enforced. Did you know, for example, that the YouTube votes were not used at all? It was simply the staff at the magazine picking. Editor Smith told me this on the phone. Actually, this was really more fair, but they should have been more open and honest about the contest. I think these magazines deserve all the negative talk they are getting over this "contest".
Congrats to winners.

I don't recall talking to anyone about this contest on the phone...

We picked the top five entries by sorting the videos by rating on youtube. Then the editors picked from the top five on that list, as the rules stated.

avatarWhat the?

This won? What were there no other entries? I thought you were supposed to show yourself multi-tasking WHILE listening to the the podcast?

This is just an advertisement! I guess you can count pouring coffee into your cereal as multitasking (or just being stupid) but other than that what else was there? Wow he knows how to dual boot, I guess that's how he won.

This was lame to the nth degree and should be presented to the court of shenanigans.

avatarThanks

Thanks, had fun doing the contest, and thanks to the sponcers and the tuff competition. The coco puffs and coffee are not half bad, as long as the coffeee's not too hot! Kind of tastes like a cafe' mocha.

No offense to the winner, but I didn't know we were suppose to create an advertisement.

Oh well.

avatarCongrats cjm2112

I gotta say, I didn't think this one would win. I do have to comment and say that the way this contest was managed was kind of fubar. Maybe some sort of real voting management would have been nice. Youtube voting is bad at best. Any other contest participants have anything to say?

I didnt do the contest, but I have entered alot of similar ones, and public judging is honestly the most horrible thing ever. you would like to think people are honest and dont spam votes.. but they arent. and if theres a decent prize on the line, whats gonna stop someone from making a bunch of youtube accounts to spam more votes. yes it's sad, but thats how the game is played. don't get me wrong, I would be first in line to make more accounts to spam votes, because thats what everyone else is going to do, and the honest people get screwed in the end. period.
