Stratus Backs Fault Tolerant Server with $50,000 Bet
Stratus Technologies isn't just confident in its ftServer 6300 fault tolerant solution, the company is downright cocky in its zero downtime claim and is willing to back that claim with a $50,000 guarantee, the company announced today.
"A vendor puts everything on the lne when it commits to keeping its customers' most important business operations running without interruption," said Eugene Saburi, Microsoft general manager, Windows Server Product Marketing for solutions marketing. "The ftServer line is a solid platform for running critical Windows applications that has consistently surpassed 99.999 percent uptime reliability since the first model hit the market in 2001."
That track record will be put to the test with the company's Zero Downtime $50K Guarantee, which Stratus says covers new purchases of any standard configuration of the company's most current enterprise-class x86 fault tolerant server with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and the required service contract. Should a hardware, software, or OS failure cause an unplanned downtime in a production environment within the guarantee period (up to six months), the customer will receive $50,000 in cash or product credit.
"There are no hidden clauses or trap doors in the guarantee," the company added.
Anyone in the world can participate, up until the program ends on February 26, 2010.
