Sprint Shares Fall after S&P Warning
Standard & Poor (S&P) on Wednesday warned it may end up cutting Sprint's credit rating because of "weak" performance this year, news of which made some investors skittish enough to dump the wireless provider's stock. Shares fell 9 cents, or 2.8 percent, in midday trading, Businessweek reports.
"We remain concerned that the company may have difficulty in improving operating trends as industry conditions mature and competition intensifies," S&P analyst Allyn Arden said in a statement.
Sprint, which ranks as the the third-largest wireless carrier in the U.S., has been losing customers and piling up debt as of late. Arden said even if post-paid subscriber losses level out and Sprint continues to adjust its cost structure, earnings may still not grow enough to materially improve credit measures, at least not any time soon.

TO ALL ANALYSTS: STFU!!!!
You are the blame for most of the mess we are in. You analize, which is just a big ol' guesstimate based upon recent trends and are in no way factual till it actually occurs. People who own stock listen to your dumb asses because they are idiots and think that whatever you say will happen. So based upon your negativity and guesstimations, people get scared and sell off what they have causing the stock to plunge. This goes for all stock in all sectors. Think of it like this......Joe Shmuck (analyst at large) say's MPC, while holding it's own for this quarter and making marginal gains in revenue, it looks as if by quarter 3 of 2010, MPC will lose 100 million in revenue and layoffs will ensue.....WTF do you think is going to happen???? Investors get scared, sell off thier stock in fear, and MPC stocks plummet. But the funny thing is...IT HASN'T HAPPENED YET!!! It's all based on guesstimation and speculation....so I say to you ANALyst's.....STFU!!
I have been with sprint for 8 years and I have NEVER had a problem that wasn't taken care of. Sprint has always been good to me and to everyone I know. My sprint coverage is excellent so I cannot complain in the least. My dad is with AT&T and hates the coverage in our area and has dropped calls constantly and is moving to sprint when his contract is up. My brother has Verizon (through his work) but has sprint personally and he uses his sprint phone most of the time for work purposes because he say's it's just better. Besides...do the math...Sprint is cheaper and you get more for your buck. The only thing that drove up AT&T's numbers was the cryPHONE. And that's only because morons have to keep up with the jones's. Nuff said.

Misplaced- this is in response to the comments below.
Ok, you three either work for Sprint, or are completely delusional, IMHO. Totally outrageous price structures, idiotic customer service reps who don't know the difference between a phone and a donut, and spotty cell service. If Sprint goes out of business, I will throw a house party. I switched to T-mobile and got twice the service for half the cost.

Nope, don't work for Sprint. Sorry. But coverage depends on where you live. I get great coverage everywhere I go, including the golf coarse me and my father go to and he struggles with his AT&T to get a reliable signal. I would comment on T-Mobile service, but I honestly don't know a single person who uses them. But just remember....while you use up your minutes calling people on cellphones, I can call them and anyone with a cell, on any carrier, at any time free of charge....oh and by the way, I can text them too, free of charge....oh and one more thing, unlimited data goes a long way.

Ok, well I understand that you are a loyal Sprint customer, then. FYI, I live and work SMACK in the middle of the Silicon Valley, and you would think that it would be a relatively important market for Sprint. I see your point about minutes and texts... except my bill is still only $70/month with T-mobile. I paid $140 with Sprint, and had many more dropped calls (once my call dropped while the customer service rep was telling me Sprint had the fewest dropped calls. That was awesome).
Our entire company uses Sprint for cell and data... my boss always jokes that Sprint has the fewest dropped calls because you can never get though in the first place. I love that.
TechJunkie, I think we are going to have to agree to disagree.

Sprint is such a good company, their data plans can't be beat in terms of price and they don't cut features from their phones. The pre is probably one of the better phones I have used, even better than the iPhone. All they need is some better coverage across the country and they should see some better sales. If 90% of your time is spent in or around a major city there is no reason not to get Sprint $70 a month you get unlimited data, text, and calls to any mobile phone on any network.

I agree....sprint is a great company. I have been with them 8 years now and currently have 4 lines and use the palm pre exclusively.
Analists are the problem. they guesstimate what might happen in the future and people get scared and sell off thier stock causing a tumble. They are the cause and effect of this global economy so if they would just STFU, maybe stocks wouldn't take such a hit now, for speculation of what might happen 8 months down the road.

My wife and I got rid of sprint because of the price plansand what is this crazy idea that I have to have the box to the phone in orderto return it? I mean who keeps a cell phone box for a full year? Anywaycustomer service is crap. However I kept my same phone number and I switch toVerizon.
