Sprint Readies WiMAX Expansion
Sprint on Tuesday announced plans to introduce its WiMAX service to a bunch of new markets, including major venues like Los Angeles, Miami, St. Louise, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Salt Lake City.
The latest expansion follows an earlier announcement that Sprint and Clearwire would deliver WiMAX to New York City, Houston, Boston, Washington D.C., Kansas City, Denver, Minneapolis, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
"With 27 markets already equipped with 4G and more being planned for this year, Sprint is fulfilling its promise to light up major metropolitan areas with speeds that are up to 10 times faster than 3G," Sprint said.
According to Clearwire, its existing networks are improving with more transmitters and receivers at each of its cell sites, and this latest announcement will only put more pressure on wireless networks to keep up.
