If a company wants to make a proprietary format then charge people an arm and a leg for it, they should be able to.  The lesson for the consumer is not to buy into proprietary formats.  In this case, don't buy HP printers if ink cost is an issue.  Which for everyone I'm sure it is.

Name me /1/ company that doesnt use propritary cartigages.

It's not a choice it its "our way or no printing"

It's not a choice is either Company X with that costs $34 for a propritary cartridge or Company y and their propritary $40 cartridge.

 

Just likr you can choose a "open" ISP its either "use our service or go without"
