I do not know how out like does games but alot of the games were awesome or just nostalgia. Well there is a simpler way to setup the games if you are a visual interface person. The program is D-Fend Reloaded. It the front end to Dos Box and comes with it.  The program used to cost but now have moved the the opensource market. I actully love this because is make it alot easier ot access adn adjust setting quicker. The game settign are stored into a database. You will have play with the setting of games if you are runnig a higher clock on your system than was avaiable during the game production. The first game i got was Elder Scrolls: Arena which are also free on Bethesada website.

Semper Leporid!

I would like to try this... I've been dying to play my old Duke Nuke'm 3D disk.

I've tried several programs that allegedly allow you to run Duke. None of them have worked for me so far. I've already pulled out most of my hair!

Anyone know if this will work for that game before I pull all my hair out again? Have you tried this for Duke? Any problems I should know about that you've already found the fix for?

I hate getting all excited only to find that I have to do hours of internet searches of nerd blogs to see if I can find a fix to something the author said, "it's easy... just do (insert insane nerdy thing here)"

Never mind! I found the listing of games and how well they're supported on the link to the DOSBox site...

Yay! It says Duke Nukek'em is supported 100%

Of course, now my wife may leave me now that I've found out how to play it again...

I noticed this syntax error carried over from the print magazine article, in which you say:

So, if your games are saved in C:/Emulation/DOSGames, and you want to mount that folder as the C drive, you would enter MOUNT C C:/Emulation/DOSGames.

A DOS pathway should be typed with back slashes ("hacks"), not forward slashes.

Otherwise, great article, keep up the good work.

anybody else try running those several old pre-unreal epic games which won't run on anything after a 486 or first gen pentium?  Haven't found the right emulator for those yet...

I would love to get X-Wing and TIE Fighter running again, but is there a way to emulate a game port joystick with a USB joystick?  Windows 7 doesn't recognize game ports anymore (and yes I still have my Flight Stick Pro ... best damn joystick ever!)

I knew saving shelves full of boxes filled with old 80's and 90's games would one day be worth it!

Now to get a 5 1/4" floppy drive...

awesome.  I can play my old Command and Conquer game.  And the first red alert and the expansion.  Effing A!  I thought i was going to have to virtual machine it with windows 98.  That would have been a pain!  Lets see how this goes!

I'm interested in trying this out. I have Nascar Racing 2 that I never fully got over playing and it can't run on new hardware; it just doesn't recognize it. Virtualization software like VMWare with Win98 used didn't even work. This sounds like it might just do the trick.

I just go over the cursed microscope puzzle and you had to go bring it up again! Years of counseling, recovery programs etc. are all down the drain!
