Question, I just updated my dad's home theater equipment (except the speakers) and now he has a plasma TV, bluray player, and receiver that all have ethernet ports.  Will I be able to run an ethernet cable from his router to a switch in the A/V cabinet and then connect the TV, bluray player, and receiver all to the switch for internet access?  Will my computer have to be on for them to stay connected?  I tried looking this up, but I get conflicting information.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes,that should work....and no you shouldn't have to have your computer on....considering the Internet is coming into house to modem, the router, then to all else
