I've had a brain fart and can't remember the exact steps but there's a way to tell TOR what countries IP to show. Then you  can do the same thing.

For a site that is all out against copyright violations, how is this different?

Because we have a legit contract with them to share content.

Now, let me start off by saying that I'm not a Mac hater like a lot of the PC fanboys out there.  But did MaximumPC just have an article about proxies and VPNs and the VPN connection walkthrough of the article had step by step instructions for how to do it on a Mac only?  I could understand giving a walkthrough for all platforms, but leaving out PC and having mac seems like a pretty big omission for your audience.

i think they just assumed pc users would understand how to do that already...

i joke, but seriously put this in that box and that in this is generally something even console only users can follow.

This is MaximumPC, not MaximumMAC or MaximumApple.  I don't want or care to read about Iphones, IPads, Macs, Android, etc.  Yeah, I know they can plug into a USB port and get connected to a wintel box, but I still don't care to read about it.  I don't mind some of the comparisons to other systems, but how they work and their new features are covered by dedicated magazines for these subjects.

MaximumPC needs to get back to the basics of PC Support.  Their covers are often cartoonish and unimaginative, and have been for a couple of years.  Often the same material is in the rotation so you're guaranteed to see that, but generally not reviews of other content.  Or such little information that you might as well read Consumer Reports on "what is the best color printer?" or "what is the best Laptop?".

The information gets around the net from Gizmodo and many others, then why am I here?  I might as well read them.  They have unique content here, limit some of this site to what makes MaximumPC unique and not regurgitate the same information.

Having been a subscriber since the Boot days and before with other magazines, its disheartening to see the same content over and over, but in a limited fashion.  Give us some decent in depth information, maybe an annual "LARGE" edition would be nice to see.  I know you got to pay the bills, so include a Ford or GM advertisement here and there if you must.

You can blame gizmodo for that since this was a direct copy of their article. Still doesn't make it any more acceptable though.

You cant plagiarize your self.

Look who posted this article on MaximumPC...  Bryan Gardiner of Gizmodo!

Gues what, MaximumPC and Gizmodo are sites owned by Future US, Inc.

Much better performance can be got through a personal proxy. Just set up Squid and SSH on your computer, your server, or a spare and get a no-ip account. SSH in, port forward to proxy and you're set. Or, if you need comprehensive coverage, use your own VPN (through SSH or not).
