My non-rooted Droid 2 checked out ok.

The phone does NOT have to be rooted to check for CIQ using TrevE's tool. Only the paid version which will attempt to remove it requres root. But be careful attempting to remove it I soft bricked my phone trying to do so (i727). Installing a custom rom is your best way to get rid of it.

edit: My Samsung Galaxy S2 skyrocket did have CIQ.

Uh, I did, and as of the time of this post, the "here" is not a working hyperlink.

my phone is not rooted but there is a app on the andriod market called Voodoo Carrier IQ. Free app that will scan and let you know if you have it installed. Mine was not, AT&T Inspire 4g had since July.

Same program shows the Droid Bionic 4g from Verizon to be in the clear.

Is this program just called "Carrier IQ," or is it sneaky so that Titanium and other root app remover programs can't find it?
