to the ones crying this is a lot of money
I have to remind you in the 80s the vic 8 vic 16 and commodore started in the mid 300's and went UP.
You had to buy all your peripherals separate. I had the cassette tape drive, the 5 1/2" floppy drive that was as big as a shoe box by the way, and we had to cut the top of it and add a heat sinc to it because it got so hot!
Never to fear, we also had the 300 baud rate dial up modem that plugged into the ONE expansion port on the back so I could get online with compuserve a BBS because Al Gore hadn't invented the internets yet!

$840 for a piece of shit.

I'll send everyone a turd, all they have to do is supply the postage.

Ironically -- based on a recent trip down memory lane with my own old C64 -- this keyboard will probably be better than 75% of the current ones out there.

This was featured in the magazine eons ago. Still a cool project though.

I did a NES PC mod using an E-350 AMD chip. It turned out awesome, plus I got the case for like $20 off of ebay. No way would I drop $345 for that.

Why build a replica? I own the original one!

Oh wow... I had no idea they still sell the C64! I thought the company was dead?

You got to do more than just look at the pictures. It's not a C64 and it's "...Commodore USA (no relation to Jack Tramiel’s original Commodore International)..."

Until I actually read the article, I was wondering how the heck the original keyboard had a snowball-in-hell chance of being compatable with any current MOBO without a custom interface card listed in the BOM for this project.

After seeing your comment, and reading the article, it makes a little more sense.

Oh I get it now... it's a bit of a "reboot" of the original C64, eh?

It's a modern rig in a C64 case. A VERY expensive C64 case lol.

Yeah, it's cool but 345 for just the case is absurd IMO

Good to read something from you Gordon. I have not lately. Thought the Apple hit squad got you.

$345?! Not bloody likely.
