Win a Set of Bowers and Wilkins MM-1 Computer Speakers
Feelin' lucky? We've got a set of Bowers and Wilkins MM-1 Computer Speakers to give away, and this should make you extremely excited for three reasons:
1. These beastly speakers don't come cheap--they cost $500 for a set. 2. These are the speakers we chose for our 2010 Dream Machine, and owning anything from a DM build is owning a valuable piece of tech history. And 3? They're damn good speakers, receiving a 10 "Kick Ass" Rating from our reviews editor Michael Brown.
Excited yet? We'll be posting the contest on our Facebook page, and all you've got to do to enter the contest is hit the "like" button when we post the link. We'll make a completely random selection a week from today(August 9th, 2010) from the pool of all you "likers". Good luck!

Giveaways aren't humanistic reaffirmations of your wonderfulness. They're to promote products,in this case MPC's use of Facebook and their acceptance of B&W's advertising dollars. Canada's another country with its own laws regulating promotions and the related taxation issues. Take it up with your country's legislators (parliamentarians?) when you get old enough to vote.
BTW, who won?

Here is a question why don't any of these contests come north of the boarder? D:

What's a "Facebook"?
How about this: only Facebook users are allowed to purchase a magazine subscription. Ouch!

Fine, you don't want to join Facebook for the giveaway. Did you really have to let everyone know that?

USB speakers that completely bypass my $200 soundcard? No thanks.
I should enter anyways though. That way if I win, I can send em' back to B&W with a note telling their engineers to go back to the drawing board.
Add-in cards > onboard/usb solutions. Any PC enthusiast knows this, the difference is night and day, even with a $15.88 Cyber Acoustics headset from Wal-mart.

You are forgetting those of us who left Facebook or decided not to join for security and privacy reasons. Those reasons still do, and probably always will, exist.

Ah, the illusions of security and privacy. If you're an american consumer of any sort who is plugged into the internet, you're known. It doesn't take a social networking site to get your information.

I am vey dissappointed with MaximumPC on this one.
The contest is only open to US residents (I live in canada)
and you need facebook to enter (I dont have facebook)
MaximumPC needs to think about all the people they are excluding from entering because of theses two reasons
