So I did a speed test at my high school, I got a 93 mb download speed. I was like okay this can't be right, so I did it again 145 mb on speakeasy, when I go back to class i'll get a .png to prove it but, is there something wrong? I haven't seen speeds that fast before... maybe this is where all of the tax dollars are going haha.

I’m delighted that I have observed this weblog. Finally anything not a junk, which we go through incredibly frequently. The website is lovingly serviced and kept up to date. So it need to be, thank you for sharing this with us.

.53 down, .26 up. This is the fastest connection I can get here in the Middle of Nowhere Wisconsin. Fuck you, CenturyLink.

Oh well, a couple years ago my only option was dial-up. That was fun.

Needless to say, I appreciate YouTube's new 240p setting.

1.29 Mbps Down

0.73 Mbps Up

@ $50 per month through Qwest

I have to buffer youtube for crying out loud!

I do not have any cable running to my area so this is over phone line DSL. Fastest speed Qwest said I can get. I even called comcast to see if they could run cable to my apartment complex and they never got back to me. I have a friend that lives about 10 min away from me that has comcast with 20 Mbps down.

What I don't understand is how the only internet I can get is this slow yet it cost so much. You would think that a 1.5 down would cost maybe 15 a month. Oh ya by the way thats what Im paying for! 1.5 down!!!

About 30 min south of Albuquerque NM in a town called Belen.

40mpbs here and I have to buffer youtube even on 320p, unless it's 3am...

where the mean distance between the client and the server is less than 300 miles

The distance is not always means acurate speed measure. I get 2-3 times better results on servers 900 miles away then 50 miles away.

Example: ~900 miles away:

<50 miles away:

On my best DL days, Hungary still beats me. :(

I recently went to a customer's site of ours and they had 256kbps DSL.  I'm sure they'll be happy to know their internet connection is slower than the average user in Zimbabwe.

11.89mbps Down

1.49mbps Up

ATT Uverse   rated speeds are 12/1.5mbps. so my real world connection is very much what I pay for.

Ping tests on speed test sites is normally 40ish. Ping in games however is normally lower. I've gotten as low as 21 in UT2k4.

7.26 down, 0.67 up , ping of 39, I'm about 40 Miles from the Kingston Ontario Server up here in the 'chilly' north.

Bell Canada charges about 40 bucks Canadian for it. Those kaniving buggers.... 40 bucks for lousy DSL, plus an aditional 5 bucks for extra Bandwidth.

32.01Mbps down/ 1.81Mbps up. I am paying $49.99 to TW a month for their 15Mbps service. So I am quite happy with over double the speed I am paying for.

I came from DSL extreme where I was paying $63 (includes static IPs) for 6Mbps and 768Kbps and only getting about 5.2Mbps. Plus the $28 for a phone line with the very basic service that was only used for DSL (I didn't even have a phone hooked up to it). So it was really about $91 a month for less than 6Mbps. So for about half the price I have increased my speed by 6 times!

No contract, no extra fees, no caps, no throttling $49.99 OTD = Good times!

avatar

Mr_Man

Qwest in Tempe, AZ charges $54.99 for 1.5 down.  Oh, and you can't go with anyone else.

avatar

Phosphorous

And you are still paying them WHY?!?!?!  If I were you I'd be contacting the Better Business Bureau and also blowing up AT&T's phones speaking with management.

avatar

Dude. Look into cable or uverse or something. Even sattelite will have better speeds.

I actually have purchased their 10.0MBPS download

1.0 MBPS upload service with Cable TV (basic) for 69.99.

With the turbo boost they got I regularly see over 15.0MBPS per second.

On downloading Torrents, regularly over 1.5MBPS or more.

Charter Communications is pretty good.

South Korea #1? I figured China would be high up there or at that spot (considering their internet population is much higher than our own). I have yet another reason to travel/like South Korea: great internet speeds.

I am currently using Road Runner Turbo. $59.95/month for 20Mb down/1.5Mb up. My last speed test was something like 24.56Mbps down and 1.92Mbps up. Sometime in September/October I will be getting the Raod Runner "Lightning" service, which is said to provide 40Mbps down and 5Mbps up for $74.95/month. This is all with NO contract as well. I live in Merritt Island Florida, and work in Cocoa Beach(just a few miles away from Merrit Island). I work as a computer technician and often do service calls in our area. The next best thing to Road Runner around here, from what I can see, is AT&T's U-Verse. I believe their speeds are 18Mbps down and 2Mbps up. Don't know what their pricing is, but I do believe there is a contract involved.

EDIT: just did a speed test and got 31.42Mbps down and 1.9Mbps up!!! I love it!!!!!

avatar

Cabal468

I'm getting 24.13Mbps/2.72Mbps on Comcast in Central Illinois...I thought I only signed up for 10Mbps downstream but I'm not complaining! :-)
