Adobe Plugs Up Six "Critical" Security Holes in Flash Player
Call it the Swiss cheese of software if you will, but Adobe this week managed to idenfity and no less than six vulnerabilities in its Flash Player platform affecting versions 10.1.53.64 and earlier.
"These vulnerabilities could cause the application to crash and could potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system," Adobe warns in a security bulletin.
This is the third round of updates for Adobe's Flash Player so far in 2010, which is found on an estimated 99 percent of PCs. Earlier updates in March and June plugged up another 33 security holes, bringing the total to 39 for the year.
Going forward, Adobe might switch to a quarterly schedule and pre-patch warning system, like it does with its Reader and Acrobat software.
"We are evaluating the possibility of aligning the patch cycles for other Adobe products with Patch Tuesdays," said Adobe spokeswoman Wiebke Lips.

....a security hole, by design. It amazes me that Adobe is even allowed to sell their cr*p. Maybe what we need to do is import some pragmatic Russians....to act as an over site committee. My web mail page and most websites are starting to look like the dreaded AOL homepage.
We don't NEED RSS feeds, podcasts, Twits, Tweets or for that matter ADs on every square inch of web space. We d*mn sure don't NEED Adobe or even MS Office for that matter. We do need a good tight spreadsheet program.
I know that the reason the television companies gave for bombarding us with commercials, was to keep television free to the home. Well NOW, we pay for the TV and still have the commercials...huh? The internet is following the same path.
We also need a web page standard...period. One that works in any browser and shows the same page to every browser. (yes, I know they are working on this). I shouldn't need Java or Adobe flash to view a d*mn webpage. Ooooo but then I won't be able to see all the pretty colors and other crap, all but hiding the information that said web page is supposed to be providing. Java for example has three firewall entries....I wonder why? Adobe has like 6 or 7 firewall entries....thats why there is never any Adobe products on my computers.
Oh the HORROR, I just had a terrifying thought....in a news flash that rocks the world, Google buys Adobe! Wouldn't that be a poisonous cup of tea?
The "CLOUD" is the biggest mistake this country will have ever made.

Standards already exist but are not complied with. Example http://www.maximumpc.com has 65 errors and 20+ warnings in the index.html .

Indeed. I'm sure anyone with half a brain or more would have stopped ready that before the second paragraph.
