Rockstar Suddenly Announces Grand Theft Auto V, Promises Trailer on Nov 2
Yes, yes, this was inevitable, but usually there's rhyme or reason to these things. Or somebody starts a nice little leak in the rumor mill's engines, and it's all old news by the time it's actually “official.” Or there's a convention (think E3 or GDC) coming up. Or something! Rockstar, though, merely plastered its website the GTA V logo, promised that a trailer's going for a nice little rampage on November 2, and then quietly strode away while everybody scratched their heads. Meanwhile, Kotaku's now rumoring that it'll be set in LA. Which sounds nice enough, but why not try a new chronological setting? Like the wild west, or a 1940s detective adventure?

playing gta IV was no better than vice city or san andreas just better graphics. i think 8gb for a videogame like that is limited and full of recycled textures. no one cares about gta anymore, its an old idea on better graphics. i liked it but it got boring a long time ago.

Blah. GTA is an old dog, a boring old dog that now just sits in the corner and licks himslef. It's the same old song and dance every single game. You play the main story, maybe finish the sidequests and then just rampage for 15 minute intervals to kill time before you have to go to work. It turns into an open sandbox... of nothing. You can't create anything, build anything, go new places... the only thing that changes is the weather and time of day. Whoo hoo!
I thought San Andreas was miles ahead of IV and that IV was incredibly lackluster except for the graphics.

Still a great series no matter how many titles come out. I think as long as you don't play it to death by buying every title that comes out it still remains fresh and interesting with all the new features they add. Before I bought GTA IV and Episodes from Liberty City the last title I played was GTA 3 and Vice City. With GTA IV I enjoyed all the new little things like buying clothes, going on the internet, taking your friends out, etc. The size of the city was pretty impressive and so was the boating and helicopter flying.

Chronological seems nice.
I thought about it for a while. Best set up I could come up with is Paris May '68.
With a backdrop of riots under the sound of Brit invasion, early hippie tracks and french yeye music, would be awesome.
Oh and yep, you would play as an Algerian that was part of the FLN (Front de libération National that kicked the French out in the 1950s) and seeks out revenge in Paris through violent ways.

I get it! Red Dead Redemption was the wild west GTA and LA Noire was the 1940's GTA. Do I win a prize? lol

oh sweet! I've been following the GTA series since I got the demo of the original GTA on a PC Gamer disc. GTA IV's graphics are gorgeous, can't wait to see V's (I'm imagining that it's not going to be too drastic a change from IV though)
