Rainbow 6 Patriots Announced, Coming in 2013
Team Rainbow's done seeing the sights (and then blowing them up) in Vegas. Now they're headed to... well, we don't really know. But the red, white, blue, and morally gray “True Patriot” terrorists have their sights set on a much bigger target: the entire free world. OK, not really. We've just always wanted to say that. They are gunning to bring down the whole American government, though. So that's kind of a big deal.
In a nutshell, the new threat believes that “the American government is irrevocably corrupted by greedy politicians and corporate special interests,” an extreme viewpoint that will predictably force Team Rainbow to “make tough ethical decisions.” That's right, Jedis, you're not the only ones who can do that.
“Terrorism has evolved, and so has Rainbow 6,” said creative director said David Sears. “In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction. This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience.”
Also, it's a squad-based game in squad-based development. Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Toronto, and Ubisoft Red Storm are all doing the honors. Real-life isn't an old-school RTS, though. Having more builders on a single structure won't make it go faster. (Nor will painting fire on the sides of it; real life sucks.) Rainbow 6 Patriots, then, won't be breaching and clearing your free time until 2013. Bummer.

I've spent countless hours on the original Rainbow Six and then stopped at the next one and never bothered with the rest. Maybe this is a good start for something new/fresh?

True stuff.
You lost me at Ubisoft. Won't touch a game they've developed.

“the American government is irrevocably corrupted by greedy politicians and corporate special interests,”
Does that really qualify as an extreme viewpoint? Seems to me like it's rapidly becoming the conventional wisdom, a viewpoint long overdue.

I'm still fairly young, so I don't know how it was a few decades ago before things like the internet was popular, but I have a feeling that as technology develops and the deliver for media increases people are becoming more aware of what's going on. I don't even like following politics but just from what I've heard over the past few years and read online though Max PC and Gmail web clips it's fairly obvious what message our government is giving. Back when there were only newspapers and television news for politics people could remain fairly ignorant if they chose to. We all know how accurate and unbias TV news is.

Sounds like Rainbow 6 of Duty? From what I heard Vegas was already arcade version of the old ones so I don't expect this to be a return to the actual tactical squad based ones. I haven't played a R6 game since Rouge spear, and I don't think I'll bother with this either.

"the new threat believes that “the American government is irrevocably corrupted by greedy politicians and corporate special interests,”
I'll buy the game just for that alone. Finally a plausible enemy.

Wooooooooooooooooooow!!! This sounds like my kind of game!!! I loved both Randow 6 Vegas' and I loved the Rainbow 6 for the Nintendo 64. Good times. This is a welcoming change. Sucks I have to wait for so long. Let's hope greed doesn't put this game with "Always On"
