Both Microsoft and Nvidia like to push there proprietary offerings on everybody. Maybe gears will start turning now and more support can be provided for open alternatives.

It makes about as much difference as the PCGA has so far - none whatsoever. Whether they're only out for PCGA-certification fees or genuinely care about PC gaming, the loss of these two members won't matter. I'd completely forgotten about the PCGA and thought it was defunct.

Just another nail in the coffin, folks.

It could mean that Microsoft is nearing a release for the next Xbox, and nVidia is handling things on the GPU hardware side.  Kind of hard to be in the PCGA when you're busy with the most Anti PC gaming devices there are.

Not a damn thing. Nvidia and MS are just keeping their options open, and this "Alliance" is hindering those options. Its not a nail, nor is it a concern...PC gaming is not going anywhere. I would be a rich man if I had a dollar for everytime I heard that PC gaming is dead. So relax...its all good.

Yeah it's crazy how many articles come up if you Google "death of the PC".  People's predictions and analysis of the market is just stupid and they have no idea what they're talking about. Supposedly tablets and cloud computing is going to kill the PC.

When they can show me a tablet or cloud computer that can play Crysis, stream media to my TV, play my own Blu-ray movies, or render scenes in 3DS Max then I will believe them.  Of course I only listed a small number of things they can't do but everyone gets the picture.

Not really surprised by MS leaving, but I am surprised at nVidia.
