Battlefield 3 Officially Revealed: 64-Player Battles, Brand New Engine, Fighter Jets, More Confirmed
After years of exotic murder vacations that took us everywhere from the future to a cartoon that may have tried to rob us, Battlefield's finally finished playing around. Battlefield 3 is as real as can be, and – straight from DICE's mouth – it's launching this fall.
Game Informer's got the full scoop, but for now, it's only tossing out a few precious morsels of info. Foremost, that “3” isn't just for show. BF3's bringing back everything you've been silently enduring a shell of a life without: 64-player matches, jets, and the ability to go prone chief among them. This time around, though, that'll all be nougaty filling wrapped in the Frostbite Engine 2.0's crunchy, entirely destructible shell.
Beyond that, there's not much else to reveal at the moment. You can click here to watch a quick teaser, but – if we're judging it on the actual definition of the word “teaser” – it's the new and undisputed champion of its kind. Expect more news in the coming weeks and a beta in the coming months. Even so, as mature, wizened adults, we must add that we want it nooooow.

Wow! 6 years of waiting and finally, finally, BF3! Seriously can't wait and will probably add a 2nd HD6870 and up my rig to 8gig of RAM for all of the explosive, destructive, action!

I loved BF2 . Was playing it for years. 64 players is sweet but there is always catch . I mean in BF2 times consoles weren't as popular as now , do you really think they are gonna make BF3 for PC only ? I don't think so . Which means developers would have to sacrifice here and there . I wanna believe but .....

The devs have also stated that the PC version is NOT going to be a console port, and that they are doing some things specifically for the PC. PC will trump the console version!

Hell Yes. This is the reason I've been slowly upgrading my PC over the last few months. Bring on the BF3. I hope it will be worth the wait and the PC version will make the console version look like garbage.

Pleassssssseeeeee! also give us the man pack AA missle. My one only real gameplay complaint was the airpower was unbalanced. If team had way better pilots it was stupid (can you say Kubra dam or wake island). Other than that just clean up the interface log on's and provide a better buddy system to be on the same server as friends. Also if its steam only the hacker population will go way down which is awesome in my book.

But there are improvements that were made, and hopefully they'll announce a map builder SDK.

I was getting tired of the Modern Warfare restrictions with 32 or less players, lack of vehicle support, small maps, and predictive spawn areas. 64 players means two full up platoons fighting against one another and will require a little more cooperation. Battlefield 2 was great but I needed destructive terrain to go with it and now they finally have it. Sweet.
