Old School Image Gallery: Our 21 Favorite Maximum PC Covers Ever
We've been doing the Old School Monday column for a while now, but there's one thing we've consistently left out. No, not photoshopped pictures of Gordon using a Mac. No, we're talking mag covers. All of our cover images and coverlines go through a long process of brainstorming, approval, photography or illustration, approval, artwork editing, approval, coverline writing, approval...You get the picture. And now, literally, you get 21 pictures of our favorite covers from Maximum PC history. Let us know in the comments which covers you like best, what great covers we've missed and what covers made you cringe when you opened your mailbox.
Click through to view our favorite covers from past issues of Maximum PC!

I'm sorry but I still feel that boot had much more innovative and exciting covers than Maximum PC.

My favorite had to be the cover with the BMW racing themed system. That looked BEACHIN!
Thanks for screwing over the innocent members with the Facebook log in by the way. I hate Facepalm. It's nothing but a scaled back version of MySpace. Weak! Only have Facepalm because everyone is forcing me to have it. Pretty soon though y'all will be forcing us to some other flybynight system.

ha... i remember wanting (thank god i didn't get it) that green antec(edit.....chieftech actually i think) case on that cover so bad back in the day.
the ATC 201 on sept 2001 (hmmm....i think i know why I don't remember that issue so much) on the other except for the 80mm fans still want... my coworker bought one of those for a pc I helped him build it was super nice i was so jealous.
also if i click on the thumbs the wrong (cover before the desired one) image come up (clicking one or two more times brings the right image up.
this is with FF 3.6.13 win7pro x64 btw.

Of course! The nurse- my personal favorite. Who doen't like a hot blond in a nurse's uniform? My wife really rolled her eyes at that one!

I would love to see these covers, but on my end I get a lot of those little red X's :(

I would love to sift through some of these old issues of MaxPC but alas there is nothing past 2006. Oh well maybe I can rejoice in the covers alone.

Hah, I just knew that you guys would put the nurse up here.
Although why did you only put one? There was at least one more.

#2 is what drew me into MaxPC
As for the remainder, my browser won't display half of them - neither thumbnail or regular image.

I'm glad to see you included the "sexy nurse" cover. No doubt your highest-selling issue.
That is until you put Amber on the cover... :p

I had the same thing happen on my wifes computer last night. First time I ever saw that. But mine in the "man cave" has never seen that "infinite loop" thingy. My office PC also is good to go. Wierd.

October 2007 with the Crysis cover. I rememer that issue, it was a good one. If I remember correctly it had the rig building contest between Gordon and somebody else and one of them used a cardboard box as a case. Laughed my ass off.

It's never too soon to bring up the David Murphy "hobo special machine."

Of course, how could I forget it was the Murph. Hilarious.
"First, there’s no power or reset switch. Hell, there’s no frigging front panel. To power up this abomination, you have to panhandle a dime so you can short the power switch jumpers and boot the ugly bastard. But be careful you don’t jiggle the GeForce 7600 GS or you may blow up the whole contraption. In fact, don’t touch it at all, lest the cardboard box burst into flames."

Hey Ya'll at MaxPC - your main page is telling me that no height/width is set and that it will cause an infinite loop and so it is 'aborting'. You might want to look into that.

I got the same thing yesterday or so and fortunately seems like MAXPC fixed it (something about Jcarousel...). Tried vanilla IE that day instead of Chrome with the same outcome.
Off topic but does anyone periodically get the "Aw Snap" crash msg on Chrome while opening multiple tabs of MaximumPC (easily fixed with refresh but sure is annoying as heck)? Not to mention, sometimes the "Page number links" on the very bottom of MPC is nowhere to be found. Also had frickin Shockwave crashin me on numerous occasions.
Gah, makes me want to do another "Browser Wars" of my own.

We're not able to reproduce the problem - is there any way you could email us a screenshot so we could get to the bottom of this? You can send it to: amber@maximumpc.com
thanks!!
