Battlefield Heroes is still in open Beta, but it is pretty easy to get a key. It is a really fun shooter. I like it a lot more than combat arms. Give it a try, it should be released in June if you can't get a beta key now.

What about sauerbraten. It is a fps that runs great on old computers too.

The actual game isn't that great in my opinion, but the realtime mapmaking is amazing.

I want to see an article on the best mods, some from HL2, BF:2, and best overall mod, ect.

Sounds like a great article!  The problem is that it's not my pervue.  I write about open-source and freeware.  While one could certainly construe gaming mods as elements of the latter, I don't think that I'd be able to justify an entire week's round-up to modifications for games that an average reader might not even own.

That's not to say that I'm not tempted to explore it...  let me stew on the idea a little bit!

The Battle for Wesnoth is a great, free, turn based game. There is plenty of time to be sunk into this one:

Agreed.  It's just one of the staples of the OSS genre that's pretty well-known, hence why I haven't blogged about it in awhile.

wow Combat Arms...seriously...that game blows.  Nexon does nothing against all the cheats and hackers out there.  If they actually did stream it to Punkbuster or something, then sure...it might be worth it, but they don't so it just blows big donkey balls.

There's plenty of delicious other freeware games that aren't necessarily past century graphics, a good example would be Combat Arms.
