I use the "Add non-steam game" a lot. REally makes things easier as all my friends and I game via steam, so this way we can communicate easier. The steam overlay runs on any game that launches from Steam!

Steam has had the backup feature for years. Cuts hours off of download time.

The easiest way to avoid redownloading whenever you reformat or get a new computer is to just copy the steam/steamapps folder to an external drive.  Then once you have reformatted, just reinstall Steam and then copy this folder back.  Just be warned that the settings and save games aren't all in this folder, many newer games keep them in My Documents.

Yeah this is what I do. I have plenty of hard drive space and this method doesn't take hours to complete.

Anyone know how to defragment all my Steam games at once? As well as automatically defragmenting them when the system is sitting idly?
