Is there a "Soros Block" extension?

avatar

Carlidan

Sure just make one.

I think that it is ALWAYS dangerous when a singular entity conglomerates every news source to reflect its' hidden message... Think North Korea, China, The former Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, etc.

The point of MPC including this article is that we pc builders are for the most part, I believe, FREE thinkers. I do not want ANYONE diluting the facts or attempting to brainwash me. But yes, Virginia, there are powerful people out there who wish to direct and control society to conform to their own hidden agenda.

So you don't like the Murdoch Block, we get it... Then create your own "lamestream media" block so that you do not have to be bothered by having to see a different viewpoint. Petition Chrome, Firefox, Google to come up with one if you don't have the skills to do it yourself. PLEASE!

The type of mean-spirited dialogue expressed her is what doesn't belong, NOT a technology reference that might interest a portion of readers.

Thanks.

avatar

Carlidan

Well written response and a thoughtful one.

avatar

warptek2010

Hey, Seamus... can you reccomend a blocker that blocks out all liberal news sources and only allows Fox and certain others? How's that subscription to the NYT's web content working out for you?

avatar

pahuber

I agree, notice how the typical libtards like carlidan & his ilk love to take this as an opportunity to jab people in the eye with their own brand of "progressive" brainwashing.

I've dropped my paid subscription a couple of years ago and am doing great getting it free online w/o supporting thier political leanings  : )

I used to purchase MPC for its tech/pc coverage and am no longer a paid subscriber because of articles like this one.

Simple as that...

avatar

Carlidan

Typical "cons" cry about liberal agenda. What's my progressive agenda again? I know your agenda. Bitch and moan and tell everyone that Christian values is the way to go. But the funny part you don't abide by them.

avatar

pahuber

Gee, Carlidan... you are still crusading this issue?

avatar

Carlidan

Yep, who else is going to spread my  liberal destroy american agenda.

avatar

Ghok

Sorry guys, this isn't all about politics.

This scandal is pretty big, and some very nasty terrible things went on. This man has an incredible amount of power, and people are shocked about how his newspapers are run. Maybe some of you aren't really familiar with the history of Murdoch in the UK. This guy was a kingmaker. He was right wing, sure, but everyone was scared of him. To the point where his newspapers started thinking they could break the law. His politics stopped mattering at this point. Most people are simply discusted at what went on.

Getting mad because "Liberals do it too!" is something a child would say. It doesn't make what happened any less wrong, or any less discusting.

I doubt this type of behavior is beyond other newspapers. The media is pretty sleezy as a whole (and this is the first thing I say when my liberal friends bring up this story).

But just because Liberals already hated news corp doesn't mean that when they get upset about this, it doesn't matter. It actually just kind of supports their opinion...

avatar

pahuber

I guess you didn't get the memo...  MPC is supposed to be about technology and NOT technology with a liberal stick it to the conservatives while posing as coverage for an application.

What ever happened to MIN BS?    This article contained a years worth....

avatar

Carlidan

Didn't you get the memo? Anything not coming from Fox is a progressive agenda?

Progessive:

1.

favoring or advocating progress,  change, improvement, or reform, as opposed to wishing to maintain things as they are, especially in political matters: a progressive mayor.

2.

making progress  toward better conditions; employing or advocating more enlightened or liberal ideas, new or experimental methods, etc.: a progressive community.

Yeah sounds bad.

Again what's my liberal agenda again?

avatar

pahuber

I couldn't care less, Carly.

Frankly, you sound whiny...   btw, this is a tech/comp magazine.

I think you are looking for whiny beotch mag.

avatar

Carlidan

Whiny. Yep.

But weird thing you sound more whiny than me. Your the one beotching about this.

avatar

routine

You would be right, except for the fact that this is a technology magazine. This article does not belong. And to be quite honest, I see more and more of these types of articles. MaximumPC is fast becoming a far cry from the Boot that it once was. Maybe that's why Will Smith left?

avatar

pahuber

You, of course, are correct.

Notice the verbose post that follows....   lol

avatar

Carlidan

Your so funny! Just forgot to laugh.

avatar

Ghok

It's not what I'd choose to put in the magazine, no. I will agree with you there. I think current non-tech news events should be avoided for the most part.

However, that's not what I'm responding to. I'm responding to the posts by you and others that are screaming over how this is political, bitching about the New York Times or socialism. These are the people who are making this (mostly) non-political story very political. Not Mr. Bellamy. In fact, he never even mentioned Fox News, the right wing, or anything political. Okay, Fox News is seen in that image (like many media brands, they're Murdoch properties), but so is National Geographic. Where are all the wildlife fans bitching?

You are in this group. Saying you're cancelling a magazine because it's talking about a current event, all while spouting partisan garbage. Like some overly politically correct liberal who can't stand to be offended.

The reason you are seeing more of "these types of articles" is because almost everything is now about politics. On the internet you can't even say you want to help reduce pollution without being accused of having a liberal agenda.

Seriously. Lets bring up a hypothetical scenario where we switch out News of the World for The New York Times... Lets say The New York Times was revealed to have been involved in hacking <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/jul/04/milly-dowler-voicemail-hacked-news-of-world">a murdered child</a>'s voicemail to try and get a scoop. As a result, there is a huge backlash against NYT, and Maximum PC posts an article about an extension on how to avoid using NYT, or businesses who pay NYT advertising dollars.

Would you be complaining then? Really. Would you be down in the posts below saying "Hey, why aren't you guys complaining about FOX!?" Tell me the truth, swear on the grave of Ronald Reagan!

Do you think there would be anywhere near as many complaints and people bitching about politics?

Okay, lets try something else... what if, say, this article was about how to use an extension to boycott ABC and their advertisers because ABC news <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/abc-news-paid-casey-anthony-family-200-000-175202089.html">paid Casey Anthony's family for a scoop</a>. We'd see as many people complaining about how that isn't suitable in a technology magazine too, right?

Like many people, I am angry about what went on at News of the World. And it has nothing to do with politics. I don't think this type of thing should be on MPC's site, but mostly think that just because it's an excuse for partisan morons to play that they're being victimized.

EDIT: Hey Maximum PC, maybe it's been so long since I used html that I've forgotten how, but I somehow have to believe my links aren't working because this posting software is crap.

avatar

pahuber

Verbosity is never a virtue.

Having endured reading your tortured logic you may want to apply for a job at MPC due to your "progressive" beliefs...

They seem to like that kind of thinking here.

Now if you actually have a point in all these words why don't you show us some real talent and scale it back... or is your mind this cluttered?

avatar

Carlidan

What I've read, it sounds like Ghok is more conservative than you think. But remeber he could be a RINO like anyone who doesn't believe your beliefs.

avatar

pahuber

LOL,  have you ever been B*tch slapped?  My guess is a most definite yes.

avatar

Carlidan

Oh so your the b*tch that slapped me. If you didn't want to blow me, just say so.

avatar

routine

I dont think so... I don't come here to read about politics. I go to other places for that.

If roles were reversed, I'd still be unhappy.

Hey... I was the first person speaking out against Bush everytime he encroached on our liberties. I hate the Patriot Act. I hate the DHS. Both of those were signed into law by Bush. I was vehemently against going into Iraq. Bush was not a small-govt conservative.

And just to set the record straight.. I'm not a big fan of Fox News either. Where were they, the past 8 years?!

What pisses me off most about this article, is the smugness and the attitude.

avatar

Carlidan

Well written response. But your response will fall in deaf ears with these people. All they saw was Fox and they were in defensive rage mode. You might disagree with the article but don't dictate what a magazine should/or should put in their website. I thought we lived in a country with freedom of press? Their are many things I disagree with but hey you have the right to say it. As long it's not threating anyone. It's like we can't have a discussion, just name calling. It's really sad that's how our nation has become.

P.S. I'm one liberal who doesn't care about "polictical correctness". Being to political correct takes away all those funny jokes. And I'm all against it. :) :P

avatar

pahuber

Carly, I laughed so hard at your second sentence, but you topped it with your P.S.

You seem to embrace political correctnes despite your denial.

avatar

Carlidan

Hmmmm... denial. And how do u know that? Oh that's right Jesus told you. Nevermind.

avatar

pahuber

A whiner & a bigot...  you continue to impress, Carly.

Were you beat by a ferile pack of Christians when you were a kid?

avatar

Carlidan

Woot i'm a whiner and bigot. Yeah you beat my cock. I'm pissed.

P.S. I'm not insulting you I'm insulting your comments.

pahuber

avatar

Ghok

Thanks Carlidan, I appreciate that.

Yeah, the post wasn't really meant for them, the post was meant for anyone who might read this without posting and actually isn't a zealot. Most people are reasonable when they're presented with reason. You gotta believe those people can look at other points of view and come to at least see why. Also a lot of people don't understand this Murdoch story as they don't have any conception of what this actually is all about (especially if they watch only Fox News). <a href="http://www2.macleans.ca/2011/07/22/the-sun-kings-alternate-universe/#more-205565">Here's another link</a> that I read earlier that I thought expressed what I was thinking much more clearly.

I never meant to dictate what the magazine could or could not publish. I'm a firm believer in free speech. I just meant that if I were making the magazine, I would avoid articles like this. Never said they can't, and really, it doesn't bother me. Honestly, I think it's a perfectly reasonable article.

Most liberals don't care about political correctness, I know, it's just a misconception some on the right have, just because some people who happen to be on the left think that way. It's used to make us think we're all a lot more different than we really are. People forget that the words liberal and liberty are related, and almost everyone hates PC bullshit. It's just funny as the people who complain about "pussy PC libs" seem to be the ones who scream and cry at an article like this.

avatar

Carlidan

Hear Hear!

I think most republican and democrat voters have many things in common. I think the divide is in our nation capital and state goverenment. It's where corporations and special interest groups take a hold on our government that pushes people to choose sides. Like cap and trade... that was a republican idea, but somehow when the president and democrat agree with that legislation it's a bad thing. It's like WTF? Cap and trade will help us in the long run my reducing pollution yet not totally crippling our economy.

avatar

Carly,

This is MPC not a political forum.  Seamus was out of line & was admonished accordingly.

If MPC wishes to do this kind of nonsense then it will be at their subscription peril.

avatar

Carlidan

How is Samus out of line? So anyone who doesn't support your view is out of line. Gotcha.

avatar

pahuber

Since you seep like one who is deeply ignorant I will try and bring this down to your level.

He injected his obvious political bias into his article...

Are your questions this dull in real life?  I hope you can live on social security.

avatar

Carlidan

Ah you know my life. Liberal= dull person who lives on social security. Funny part most of these republicans who bitch about goverment entitlements are the ones who hoarde it the most. Strange eh.

Guess what, MPC just turned into a polictical forum. And it's liberal leaning. This is where people can talks sh!t about conservatives and bash Christians. So are you still comming here ?

Really hard to reply your rants.

avatar

profdlp

Do you libs really need a browser extension to do this?  Isn't this like something you might install to keep a six-year-old away from something you don't want him to see?

"Oh, crap - I tried to type in socialistNonsense.com and ended up at fox news by mistake!"

Maybe you should just go all-out and install http://www.netnanny.com/

avatar

triclops41

congrats, seamus, you have successfully trolled.

i hope mpc didnt pay you very much for this article.

there are much better trolls that can be had for free.

i guess you need your hits, and we all know political cheap shots that will offend one side and will be cheered by the other are the path of least resistance.

Stick to some semblance of what your expertise is... you just embarrass yourself with something you have no concept about..

I read online for free now because of this type of crap MPC has promoted.  I used to get the Mag & CD.... at least you are letting us know you deserve abosolutely NO support.

Perhaps some of the libtards will assist you in throwing rocks now.  Way to go MPC!  Thanks for showing us how asinine you can get with an application.
