Android App of the Week: Skifta
As different aspects of our lives make their way into the digital space, our need for mobile connectivity to various content becomes more pressing. Email, contacts, and calendar are the usual suspects when it comes to the instant gratification offered by smart phones, but digital media is becoming increasingly integral to our daily lives. Often the internal storage offered by our mobile devices isn't sufficient for the vast amounts of media we collect and consume, so finding alternatives becomes a necessity.

Skifta is an app we've had our eyes on for some time. Now that it's just shed its beta status, it's worth featuring as our Android App of the Week. A Qualcomm offering, Skifta is exclusive to Android. It makes your Android device a DLNA Digital Media Controller, allowing you to view media on a DLNA Digital Media Server like your PC, and even push the media to a Digital Media Renderer like an HDTV. As an additional bonus, Skifta lets you remotely access media stored on your home network using a PC-based plug-in over Wi-Fi or 3G.

Skifta is a free download from the Android Marketplace. For more information visit Skifta.com.
