There are two bookmarklets available from Google for subscribing to RSS feeds using its Reader web service. The first simply allows you to automatically view the first RSS feed on any page in Google Reader, which any RSS-user knows is one of the best. The second bookmarklet displays a box that shows you a list of all RSS feeds on a page, for sites like our own with more than one feed. Clicking on any of the feeds opens them in Google Reader, like the first bookmarklet.
Keep track of the stuff you want
Amazon, one of the easiest ways to shop online, just got even easier. This simple bookmarklet lets you highlight any product on any site and add it to your Amazon.com wish list, without leaving the page. Use it for wedding registries, birthdays, holidays, or your own personal shopping. It works on pretty much any site, though you’ll get better results with already-established e-commerce sites.
Convert and save your feeds
RSS to PDF Newspaper is a handy bookmarklet by fivefilters that converts any RSS feed you're viewing to a newspaper style PDF file. The bookmarklet instantly converts your feed of choice in your browser, where you can save it for later viewing. You can drag the link into your bookmarks bar, or get creative and visit fivefilters.org to customize your 'marklet. The site lets you change the header for your PDFs, add images, and change the order of your stories.
Put lazy people in their place
How frustrated do you get when your friend IMs you to ask a question that could have just as easily been answered with a quick Google search. Pretty frustrated, right? Now you can use a convenient bookmarklet to express that frustration by creating an animation that shows just how easy it is to find the answer to questions using Google. Just highlight a word, click your bookmarklet, and message your friend right back with the resulting link. It's a little snarky, but that's why we like it.
It doesn't get any cuter than this
There are a lot of frivolous bookmarklets out there. We’ve resisted the temptation to include them in the list—up until now. The one that finally broke our resolve is Kittenify, which lets you transform all of the images on a page into cute little kittens, doing cute little kitten things. Now who doesn't want a bookmarklet like that? We only wish it worked on ads, too, but for now all the banners on MaximumPC.com will suffice. Convert our site to kittens, stat!
Some videos need to be saved
PwnYouTube is a bookmarklet that lets you save YouTube videos as either high-quality .mp4 files, or as standard Flash video. Just click the bookmarklet and you'll see a yellow bar at the top of your browser screen. Right-click on either of the suggested formats, select Save As, and you'll have that hi-larious video of a surfing alpaca saved on your hard drive for all eternity!

I can download files, however, I can't play them. What media player recognizes these file extensions?

Most any media player can play .mp4 files. VLC player from videolan.org will play almost any movie file, including .flv as long as you have the necessary codecs installed.

Grooveselect works for me. Didn't work at first and then I realized that Noscript was blocking it. Once I allowed it I had to highlight the song again and click the bookmarklet.

It's a shame too. After reading the article, the one I was most excited about was Grooveselect and the bookmarklet doesn't even work.
Did you guys test this stuff before writing the article?
At least I found out about the website Grooveshark.com - very cool site.

Hello to all my fellow brethren: The Bookmarklet - GrooveSelect; Does anyone know how to query the server without having to find the song you want to listen on a page?. So, I'm looking for a way to manually enter a song and artist, then I can highlight the sound and then hit the GrooveSelect BookMarklet. Search boxes do not seem to do the job? Thanks for any and all replies.

GMapToGPX bookmarklet will create a GPX file from a Google Maps route so you can upload it to your GPS. Very primo.

I dragged the grooveselect bookmarklet into my firefox bookmark toolbar, highlight a song text I want to hear (use sombody - Kings of Leon), and then click the grooveselect bookmarket. Nothing happens.
any ideas? fully updated FF

Perfect for when you are surfing around and want to tell someone (or yoursef) about a page you just found.
No need to bring up full on Gmail, just po up a small Gmail This window.

You don't mention the link in the article, and there is no official bookmarklet on LMGTFY website. Double FAIL!

LetMeGoogleThatForYou <--- That's the bookmarklet right there, just select text and press it. It's not very useful though, because it just searches the highlighted text on LMGTFY and doesn't give a link. I think it's just better to go to the site and make your own URL.

I love the PwnYouTube bookmarklet! However the article linked to the main page rather than the bookmarklet. This is the direct link to get the bookmarklet for downloading videos from YouTube

GrooveSelect is AWESOME :D It even found these semi-rare German rock (not Rammstein :P).

The password one seems a little useless, if you were really that bad with typing your passwords then you could just type them into the search bar, or address bar, then copy and paste it into the password box.

Nice list. I stumbled across http://www.marklets.com
the other day. I think it's probably the biggest list of bookmarklets I've ever
seen. I found the marklets.com bookmarklet (mentioned in the article) http://www.marklets.com/bookmarklets/Marklets.com.aspx the most useful. It lets you just search their database right from the
sites you're currently visiting. Pretty cool trick and you don't need
to bookmark a huge list of bookmarklets.
