The "100 Websites To See Before You Die" Contest: 25 Awesome Prizes
Hopefully you've had a chance to check out our list of 50 Websites You Need to See Before You Die. If you have, you know that we're planning to run that list, with 100 entries, as the cover story for the February issue of Maximum PC. Problem is, we need 50 more. That's where you come in.
Read the list, then tell us what you think should be added to it. Remember, like the original story says, we're looking for sites that are "not the kind of website you put in your bookmarks bar and come back to again and again--they're the kind that you email to your friends along with a note that says 'holy s*** check this out.'"
What in it for you? Well, we've got TWENTY FIVE prizes to give away, and everyone who enters a site that makes it onto our list is entered to win. If two of your sites make it onto the list, you've got two chances to win. We'll pick the winners by random drawing on Monday the 29th, so you've got a little under one week to enter.
That's 25 great prizes for 50 entries. Come up with a good site, and your chances of winning are very good.
For information on the prizes, and full contest rules, see below:

http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/music.swf
Ishkur's guide to electronic music. I stumbled across this flash guide when it was still in it's infancy. Did you ever want to know where all those silly genres and cheesy techno styles came from? Look no further the guide has examples of every genre featured and a usually a humorous description of each genre. I am always amazed that somebody took the time to document some of the music which people should be ashamed for creating.

Sites I visit regularly:
Steampowered.com - Probably the best place to find PC games at the moment
Reddit.com - Social link sharing. Awesome community!
Grooveshark.com - Any song you want, streamed on demand, legally. If you register you can have playlists and favorites.
Pandora.com - sophisticated internet radio
notebookreview.com - A website specifically for laptops. Their forums are very helpful at suggesting a laptop to meet your needs and they pump out quality reviews for almost every laptop that comes out.
whatismyip.com - tells you the IP address seen by the website. Nice for checking to see if you're online, finding out your IP, or seeing if that proxy is working.
Portforward.com - Helps you set up port forwarding for a specific application for your specific router.
lmgtfy.com - you already know it.
lmptfy.com - same as above, but will search pirate bay instead.
instantrimshot.com - I'm pretty sure this has been linked on every forum to ever exist at least once.

I keep leaving the page and then remembering more awesome "wow" sites.
howstuffworks.com ; browse it for explanations of how everything works from internal combustion engines to voting and ballot machines.
ehow.com and instructables.com , both awesome DIY project sites.
wikipedia.org is also a "wow" site; the breadth of knowledge to uncover by browsing is astounding.
Encyclopedia of Life at eol.org is incredible as well. It's an attempt to document all known species.
uspto.gov - patent and trademark office. dryer than sand, but you can search the patents in full text with diagrams. grab a familiar gadget and look up those numbers on the back; you'll find out some cool stuff.
