What is Adobe Air? Is flash a part of it, or is it a completely different program. I've never heard of it.

Was there a great demand for this? It's not like Silverlight has taken the world by storm.

As a Linux user, I prefer Adobe Air really. It's faster (as benchmarks show), it's been around for longer (more apps), it has better linux support (installs programs as packages natively).

Whether you prefer it or not over Adobe this just allows more compatibility with linux for the sites that use. This is also a much better product than the previous Adobe version. Having it available for Linux just expands the platforms that support it and allows thuse great developer base that primarilies works on Linux to be involved with this great application from Microsoft.
