Crytek Shoots Down Alleged Crysis 2 DirectX 11 Patch
You've reached the end of another day, and a Monday no less. It wasn't easy, but you began the uphill battle that is yet another work week with grace, poise, and some other adjectives that aren't generally used in reviews of ice-skating performances. Still though, you can't shake this weird feeling – like something's missing. And that's because it is. You were promised a Crysis 2 “Advanced Graphics Setting” patch, after all. What gives? Well, as it turns out, we've all been had.
“No patch was ever confirmed, I have no idea why this website even posted such information... When there are any big announcements regarding Crysis 2 they will be posted on MyCrysis, if you read something about a patch for example, but don't see it on MyCrysis.com, then it isn't genuine,” said a Crytek representative in a post on the MyCrysis forums.
So then, that's that. As for why the original website mislead everyone, we haven't the foggiest. Early April Fools? If so, you certainly won't be hearing any utterances of “MAXIMUM HUMOR” from our nanosuits.

Why the fuck are all of these comments hating on Crytek. Did they say "Fuck you no DX11"? No they didn't. I'd rather have a game that works instead of a pile of shit that looks good for the 2 frames that render. It's not like the game isn't playable or isn't fun. It isn't Black Ops because the environments are smaller either. It's set in a city and is still Crysis so deal with it and quit bitching about them not releasing a graphics update. I bet most of you haven't even played the game. "Doesn't work or works poorly" ????? WTF are you talking about? You know what didn't work when it came out? Half-Life 2 and Steam. This game works fine, there were some launch day issues but those were just with activation not really a big deal. I guess no one here remembers when you had to reconfigure sound cards and drivers in the old days of PC gaming.
TL;DR Quit bitching about a game that works fine.

Yep... I remember those days of digging into the config.sys and the mem.exe. I also remember the days when folks would speak their mind without swearing all the time. Common courtesy, respect of others, and accountability of one's actions seems to be a thing of the past around here. I am sure that you are intelligent enough to convey your thoughts Dan, without all the colorful metaphors. But hey, this is just my opinion, and I really don’t expect a kind response from you...if one is to take into consideration, your past responses to constructive criticism. Just so you know, I do agree with you...to a point. I am sure this game is going to look fantastic, however, due to the previous release of Crysis, and all the demands it had on the PC...there is a fair amount, and justifiably so, of expectations for this game. The bar has been set, so to speak, and anything less is going to be met with a certain amount of anguish.
Crytek made the sound decision, both financially and logistically, to produce a game that would work on a variety of platforms. I don’t agree with the port option or the apparent lack of DX11 support, but it is what it is. And for all the folks out there that are not happy with this decision...vote with your wallet. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it...really simple choice.

I haven't really follow this one a lot so exscuse my lack of knowledge about this subject. By adding DX 11, have they stated that it will improve the graphics beyond anything that a console can do, or will it just make it run better on DX11 cards? World of Warcraft has some limited DX11 abilities, but from what I understand it is just so it runs better on those cards and doesn't add anything graphically that a DX9 or 10 card can do..I could be mistaken about that because I am trying to remember the actual facts without research (i am in a hurry;)

It amazes me why these companies continue to whine about piracy and wonder why it happens. Then they go and screw the customers who actually pay money for their products. Good way to do business.

Well shame on the customers for buying their crap in the first place. Not that this warrants boycotting. It doesnt seem like Cryteks fault but in general many of these developers dont deserve to survive yet people (Sheep) keep buying their crap AHEM like Activision with their COD reskins every year.

I agree. As a consumer you are responsible for researching products you buy. I don't feel sorry for anyone who runs to the store and willingly hands over $60 without having any idea about what they're buying. I guess those that were expecting something equal to or better than Crysis learned a hard lesson.

Why because they released a playable game? Because some random ass website said they were releasing a patch that wasn't ready?

It'd be seriously lame if Crytek didn't drop the patch now anyway -- especially seeing how the internet lit up in delight at the prospect. They need to throw PC gamers a bone I think to let us know that they still care. But I get the feeling that they're a bit jaded at those piracy numbers. I don't think they saw the return they expected from Crysis even though it did sell a few million copies.
In the end, whatever direction developers choose to take their product is always their decision and I respect that. It doesn't always mean I'm willing to drop the cash though. I don't plan on pirating Crysis 2, but I will buy it when it's nice and cheap and well-patched (hopefully on steam).

RAAAAAGE!!! Actually, I don't have the game so I don't care. I'll bet this spoiled a lot of people's day. It did seems fishy to me though. They game is only a week old and a patch already? I could see if there was a major flaw but this was suppose to just add grahics tweaks. Seemed BS to me.

It makes sense when you consider the production cycle. If the boosted graphics were not part of the original dev cycle, then it would have delayed the game to roll them in -- which doesn't make sense for a game that has a primary install-base in consoles. So they work on the patch after the game has gone gold and release it soon after the game's scheduled release date.

They ruined this game. Just another repeat of Blops. Wait for BF3 and hope for the best everyone. BTW you can currently play multiplayer with the pirated version of this game. It is part of the reason there are so many hackers right now.

And Crytek confirms the trend (also seen with the new crippled YDKJ from Jellyvision) of screwing their most loyal customers, the ones who actually gave them their start. Yay for PC gaming getting reduced to console ports!

under the bus. Software developers bitch about their software getting pirated, but when they constantly screw their customers by releasing shit that doesn't work or works poorly, what can they expect. I've got a new policy, pirate first, if it's worth the asking price I'll buy it. Otherwise, to-hell with 'em.

This game was designed and boxed for the masses...like the watered down hot sauce that you get at Taco Bell...no taste, and or bite.
