Crysis 2 DirectX 11 Support and “Advanced Graphics Settings” Being Patched in Tomorrow
Crysis 2 has been taking quite a bit of heat around the web for a perceived lack of PC polish, and while much of this criticism is unjustified, the release of a new patch tomorrow should help bridge the gap for offended enthusiasts. According to a German website (and now confirmed by Crytek), DirectX 11 support is being patched in as of tomorrow, along with a new “Advanced Graphics menu” for those who like to tweak the special effects for maximum performance.
Crysis 2 did a pretty amazing job of showing us what is still possible in DirectX9, but lets face it, if your GPU supports tessellation, you’re probably an enthusiast who isn’t known for being particularly reasonable about your demands, and that’s why we love you!
If you were looking for a DirectX 11 killer app this just might be it. You can call it a console port if you like, but this latest update will ensure Crysis 2 will be making PC’s across the globe groan for years to come.

Really MPC?... really? Why the hell did you guys publish this article when it was an obvious rumor and you clearly had zero proof to back it up!? Do you guys know how much of a frenzy you stirred up over on the Mycrysis forums because of this stupid article!?
Here is a quote from Cry-Tom, a forum moderator/dev over at Mycrysis.com: "No patch was ever confirmed, I have no idea why this website even posted such information. This thread is locked just the same as the others for trying to spread inaccurate information. When there are any big announcements regarding Crysis 2 they will be posted on MyCrysis, if you read something about a patch for example, but don't see it on MyCrysis.com, then it isn't genuine."
Did you see what I did there Justin Kerr? I quoted a reliable source, maybe you should give it a try.
I expect more from you guys... this was sincerely dissappointing to see.

A lot of people are complaining that it's not a great game. But after 4 years of development, creating a really competative multiplayer and creating awesome visuals, I'd say unless you're a 16 year old with dad's credit card, Crysis 2 is worth the $60. The thing that still has me boggled is other than the lack of direct X11 support and of graphics settings, which will all be fixed by today, people who dislike the game never quite explain why.
Mouse lag is your CPU's fault. Turn down the graphics.
Yes the suit layout is different. But how i see it is placing suit functions as a hot key makes you that much faster to react in combat situations. I think those who complain about this topic just can't get up the learning curve of this game. On the plus side, real time upgrades, especially in combat, is an awesome feature. Also, taking advantage of the tacticle and termal visors are vital to success even in multiplayer.
The areas I will agree that Crytech is at fault is the sandbox environment is pretty much gone which made the original such a personal experience. Also the story was lacking in not so much plot, but in detail and creativity. But it can be assumed they did this as to not confuse those who never played the first two games.
Bottom line - Visually stunning. Fluid and dynamic gameplay, even in multiplayer. Needs debugging, Campaign not as great as the first. I must agree with metacritic's score. 88/100 is fairly acurate and is what it desearves.

Crysis2 versus 2007's Crysis, without mods, same resolution....
Ridiculous. And I have a 2GB highres texture pack for C1 and HDR lighting mods that made every aspect of C1 better than C2
Yeah the game is decent fun to play(Not amazing) but there is no sandbox style, there is no sandbox creator/editor, there is no MULTIPLAYER(for me, not once did servers let me log on)
I finally returned my copy and got my money back so I can buy something worthwhile. MAybe in 6 months I'll get this game again. MAYBE

Can you include the source where Crytek confirmed these changes being patched in tomorrow? The moderators over at mycrysis.com denied this as being confirmed by Crytek. Here's the link:

I have been waiting for this. I hope I will now be able to play the game because my crossfire setup is a flashing mess.

As I see it. I think they are proving the debate about hardware being way ahead of software developement. If they can squeeze every last bit of performance and beauty out of dx9. Then I look forward to what they'll bring to the table with dx11. I only imagine that the patch will be a preview of what they'll push out in crysis 3. I installed far cry 2 today for the first time and the jump from 9 to 10 was pretty good. I trust that crytek has our interest in mind.

Can you guys post the link where Crytek confirms they are releasing this DX11 patch tomorrow? I have been stalking the Mycrysis.com PC forums and I haven't seen even a hint that this is anything more than a rumor. I really hope it's true, but I would like to see an official statement from Crytek that confirms this. Thanks guys.
P.S.- I agree that the game is good. But it still needs a lot of work to make it into a polished game. It's also VERY heavily influenced by the console integration, there's no denying that. However that doesn't make it a "bad" game. It just isn't the PC-centric kind of Crysis game we have come to know and love... which is slightly dissapointing. But it's still fun as hell and DX10/11 will only make it better :)

yeah!!! this is complete BS!!!!!! I cant believe that they would make Crysis playable with a reasonable priced PC!!!!! This PROVES that its just a sh*tty watered down console port!
Crysis 2's graphic engine SHOULD take AT LEAST 3 Geforce 590's in tri-SLI to break 10 fps at the lowest detail!!! The highest detail shouldnt be possiable for PC's for another 5 years!!!!! yeah!
.........
get over urselves people. just because you DONT need a effin $10,000 pc to play it doesnt mean its a bad game. Not everyone has the money to throw away in a PC just so you can play one friggen game. I play Crysis 2 on PS3, and you know what? Im happy with it. You can take ur "console port" bs and goto some forum and beat off to Crysis 1 graphics, cuz nobody cares that Crysis 1 had "better graphics".

I think they just waited until the DX11 patch as ready...that's why you didn't get the advanced menuing system...they didn't cut many settings...they are all there right now (save DX11)...use one of the loaders up on Steampowered forums to tweak out...they work great.

Unjustified criticism, you are joking right? Crysis 2 screams of being a port of a console game in every conceivable way, it is a complete downgrade from the original Crysis, there is no excuse for lack of DX 11 support in any game released in or after 2011, DX 9 is completely out dated technology. Cutting out advanced tweaking settings because they are too complicated to understand for the simpletons migrating from Call of Duty is utterly unacceptable.

It IS unjustified. I can hardly tell the difference between DX9, DX10, and DX11 without tesselation (this is from someone that has a GTX 560.) By the way, your not really well informed, Portal 2 uses the source engine, and it has never been given DX10 or DX11 support, and its games are still best sellers. Another game coming out this year, Brink doesn't even use DirectX, but rather OpenGL.
Crysis 2 still looks good on DX9, and I have it maxed out (custom settings too). Just stop complaining about graphics and play the game for what it is...

for a game that is by and large known for its graphics...yes it is completely in inexcusable for them to not support DX11/10 at launch for what was a pc exclusive. if that doesnt tell you that they had consoles in mind first and pc second i dont what will. The water is where it is REALLY obvious its in dx9. as far as the gameplay is concerned, mabey its just the setting that the game is in but i just didnt feel like the levels were open like they were in the first one. it doesnt have that sandboxy feel where i could roam around and take it at my own pace, here i feel like im being pushed through it

There is more to a great game than DirectX 11, and while the game isn't without its launch problems, I don't believe they are related to the fact that they created an engine capable of spewing out multiple versions. They have publically stated it was a PC lead title, even at the risk of offending the larger audience. Not sure what else they can do to stave off criticism. They have work to do, but let’s let them take a shot at it.

Crytek publically stating the game being a PC lead is what PC gamers are most disappointed about.
The lack of honesty is disappointing.
- 60+ pages of PC gamers not able to long into the demo...disappointing
- 60+ pages of PC gamers not able to log into the game...disappointing
- Patching the game to not say Press Select...is disappointing and does not say PC lead
- Patching in DX11...does not say PC lead
- Patching the game to remove Aim Assist...does not say PC lead
- Patching the game to allow PC gamers adjust video settings
The forums go on and on...
What are they patching to make the game work on consoles???
Does not look like it was lead on the PC.
