Use of Web Email Drops 59% Among Teens
A new ComScore survey has come out telling us something we already suspected: people are using email less and less. What we didn't expect was the size of the drop off among younger people. According to the survey, the year over year change among teenagers age 12-17 was -59%. Maybe Zuckerberg was right.
The 25-34 age bracket was the next biggest drop, at -18%. Young adults age 18-24 only dropped 1% of their email tome compared to last year, likely due to college students. Only those age 55 and older actually used email more last year than in the past.
It makes you wonder what the future of messaging will look like. Young people of multiple age groups are increasingly relying on simpler methods of keeping in touch like SMS or Facebook. Is there going to be a place for companies that rely heavily on providing web-based email solutions in the future? Is your email use declining?

I'm 19, and I am one of the few guys that don't have a Facebook. Kind of a shock to a lot of people when they find out about my lack of social networking outlets. Facebook, to me at least, is a waste of time, and a potential invasion of privacy. I had a Facebook a while back, and I honestly found no use of it. If you're wondering, I am not a recluse or a weirdo or anything like that (I have friends, a beautiful girlfriend, a job, a car, yada yada), but Facebook is/was of no use to me, and yet I am still in the "social" scene so to speak. I was thinking about creating a blog or a website, but I really don't need to. If you're wondering, yes, people can either text me, or, drrrrrrrrrrumroll...E-MAIL!!!

far as I am concerned, any messaging even done on facebook is email. SMTP does not define email.

E-mail doesn't make much sense to someone if they've always got Facebook open and a lot of kids always have Facebook open. I spend some days in a high school and I've never ever seen a website that is as ubiquitous as Facebook. Not even Google. It's not uncommon to go into a lab and have an entire row of students all on Facebook. No wonder the thing is worth so much money.
Don't really care for it much myself, but it really is what you make of it.

My use of email is constantly getting bigger. I hate Facebook and I barely use text messages at all. I personally can't see how Facebook and text messages can fully replace emails.
I am 16 years old, just for reference.

Facebook is a big fat waste of time. I don't understand why anyone uses it. Everyone should go back to using e-mail. Facebook is just like e-mail, except there are a million other gimmicky novelties and stupid extras that distract you and waste your time. Also, there's Zynga who is in ur base stealin' ur personal informashunz. Seriously, e-mail>Facebook. I have never had a facebook, and never will.

"I have never had a facebook, and never will."
You don't seem to have much of a brain for critical thinking or a very good command of the English language either, Mr. I Hate Other OS.
Isn't there something else you could be doing rather than trolling the MaxPC forums and spewing hate? Anything? Are you really that bored that this is the best activity you can come up with to spend your time on?
Oh, wait, you're one of those handbag/sweats/jersey/shoe sellers who finally died a painful death at the hands of the spam filter?
