Time Warner Really Needs to Hire a PR Guy

Really, Time Warner? Do I need to take you, and sit you in a corner? Because it’s clear to me that you just can’t right any of your wrongs. This time, a boneheaded exec at Warner Music Norway decided to lash out against an 18-year-old Norwegian student, calling him (and I quote the translation) a “stupid brat.”
A young blogger, identified only as Evan, was reportedly upset about his inability to download the new Dave Matthews Band album on iTunes. However, he was quick to identify that his problem wasn’t present for those in the United States. So, like any self-respecting member of the Internet, he Tweeted his concern, by stating (again, this is an approximate translation), “'I’m pissed! iTunes is only allowing downloads of the new Dave Matthews Band album if you live in the US! And they complain about pirating.”
Without delay, Warner Music Norway’s Terje Pedersen was there to solve the problem with some quick, and effective customer service. Pedersen, responding in the standard tweet format, stated, “Then I suggest you steal it and write about the process in your stupid brat blog. We don't want you to get upset.” Pedersen is of course, referring to Evan’s blog.
Wow, well played Pedersen. Clearly the concept of acting your age is lost on you.

The reason a lot of people pirate, not enough supply for the demand, or no supply in the area. Morons. I lived in Newfoundland, in a smaller town for 6 years, and finding music i liked was tough in stores, so was getting certain movies, because unless it wasn't the top rating most popular thing good luck finding it. Pederson is an idiot...told him to pirate it so that he could prosecute him? Didn't he pay for it on iTunes only to find it won't download? I'm not overly familiar with that application, but I'm sure that's how it works, pay for the product, then get it. So him using P2P would be legal anyhow. Also, music downloads are legal.
Quoted from "http://www.webopedia.com/DidYouKnow/Internet/2004/music_downloading.asp""
"In Canada, for example, downloading
copyright music from peer-to-peer
networks is legal,
but uploading those files is not. Additionally Canada has imposed fees on
recording mediums like blank CDs and similar items. These levies are used to
fund musicians and songwriters for revenues lost due to consumer copying.
Canada has initially charged this tax on MP3 players, but a recent Supreme Court
decision ruled that the law was written in such a way that these players were
exempt from the tax"I don't like Microsoft, I associate with it.

Ah, but it's not stealing. Since he would be abiding by what an authorized representative of Time Warner had advised him to do, pirating the song would be upheld as legal by the courts. At least in this instance. He was told how he could obtain a copy of the song--I say he follow through and thank Time Warner for their assistance in this customer service issue.

or maybe he is calling the kids bluff and asking him to write about it in his blog, hence implicating himself of a crime in writing for all to see and providing evidence for prosecution. It seems like a cleverly worded response, but then again he is probably just another arrogant rich person. I would be curious to know how concerned some of these execs truly are about piracy. Seeing this sort of statement gives me the impression that it really isn't that big of a problem for these wealthy pigs.

I agree that it was probably wrong of the executive to yell at this kid, but I can understand why "from a perspective." People are always bitching and complaining about anything and everything. I get it... Tweet is suppose to be a place where you can express what your doings, your complaints, and whatever the fuck else people might "give" a shit about. Anyways, if the kid was unhappy with the fact that it wasn't available to him yet, then he should of just P2P it, then paid for it when it came out to his area.
