SteelSeries World of Warcraft Mouse Has More Buttons than You Have Fingers

comment Commentsprint Printemail EmailDeliciousDiggStumbleUponRedditFacebookSlashdot

It would take three hands with all digits intact to match the number of buttons on SteelSeries' new World of Warcraft MMO mouse. That's right - 15 programmable buttons grace the rodent's funky cyborgish exterior, and each one of them was designed in conjunction with Blizzard specifically with WoW addicts in mind.

The new mouse level's up its macros skillset by affording macros up to 160 characters long, with over 130 predefined commands for drag-and-drop macro creation in place. But you might find yourself spending the majority of your time grinding away at the light scheme. The world's first WoW mouse boasts no less than 16 million illumination choices with 3 intensity and pulsation levels.

Dedicated MMO players can preorder the mouse now for $99.99, with shipping slated for November 13, 2008.

Press release:

Today, SteelSeries will be previewing the first WoW Gaming Mouse at BlizzCon 2008.

With more than 130 World of Warcraft (WoW) commands organized into seven categories for controlled game-play, 15 programmable buttons, six possible DPI settings and 16 million profile-specific color illuminations, the MMO Gaming Mouse will be sure to impress WoW gamers with both in-game control and enhanced design.

The World of Warcraft® MMO Gaming Mouse graphic user interface design looks like part of the game with armor-like face and illumination color that is tied to a profile for up to 10 different profiles and more than 16 million colors to chose from. The aesthetics of the mouse are merely the gates of what it is capable of. With easy to use drag and drop software, players can program all 15 buttons with over 130 in-game World of Warcraft® commands.

The ability for mouse customization for WoW players promotes better game play and comfort, including:

  • 6 DPI (dots per inch) or CPI (counts per inch) settings at 800, 1200, 1600, 2000, 2400 and 3200
  • 3 possible poll rate settings of 250, 500 or 1000 Hz

The mouse will be available in late Q4 in time for the holidays, the World of Warcraft® MMO Gaming Mouse will be sold for $99.99 on NewEgg.com, Amazon, Microcenter, Dell and GameStop. BlizzCon attendees will be the first to see and test this original mouse at the SteelSeries booth this weekend.

avatarMoney to waste?

If they didn't have money to waste they probably wouldn't be paying $15 dollars a month to play and having a computer that is waaay overpowered to play a last gen game (i.e., dell's 3k "monster"). I mean, I played that game on a socket 478 pentium 4 2.8ghz computer with only radeon 9600. It ran very well.
