Mozilla Teases Us with Firefox 4.0 Mockups

Mozilla is already ruminating on the look and feel of future Firefox versions. It shared a few Firefox 3.7 theme mockups last week. The common denominator across those mockups was the absence of the all-too-familiar title bar, a design feature that summons to memory the name “Google Chrome.”
Mozilla is certainly in love with Chrome’s minimalist design, if the freshly released “Firefox/4.0 Windows Theme Mockups” are anything to go by. It has released two Firefox 4.0 theme mockups in all and both of them closely mimic Chrome.
The position of the tabs vis-à-vis the address bar is what sets them apart. The first mockup features the address bar on top of the tabs, whereas the second one has the tabs placed above the address bar – again reminiscent of Google Chrome.

They should stop changing

They should stop changing their interace. I liked 3.0 a lot...it'd be nice if they just stuck to current version aesthetics, and just getting down to bugs, errors and function, then all would be well. Mac is about aesthetic, so basically Safari is the only "pretty and cool" browser, and look at it, it sucks and only works well on OSX.
I don't like Microsoft, I associate with it.
Looks like they borrowed UI

Looks like they borrowed UI elements from Chrome and Safari 4

Why the change in the layout when it's fine the way it is?? Come on, let's get the x64 ver. going with all the plugins and addons!! That's where the work should be concentrated at.
It seems Firefox has

It seems Firefox has borrowed some from IE8's book. Lets just hope that 4 is much more stable than 3.5 is.
*sigh*

this is stupid, they don't need to ape chrome to implement improvements. I like the way firefox is layed out much better than I do chrome. the title bar is useful why get rid of it? the desing in the picture seperates the elements on different sides of the screen, why not have them in one area like they are now? just seems stupid to me
Title bar is useful for what?

Yeah, the title bar is useful! Because I often forget that I'm running firefox and I look up at the title bar and it reminds me! And then I also use if for...urmm....for....
Yeah, what is the use of the title bar? It's wasted screen real estate that could be used to show me more of my web pages. Kudos to firefox for acknowledging that chrome has a better layout, and making some effort to emulate it.
I should have been more

I should have been more clear, right under the bar are the file, edit, view, history, bookmarks, tools, and help menu's these are very useful, they are spread all over the place in chrome and in that god aweful pic
