Intel's Atom Finds Its Way Into Your Car

comment Commentsprint Printemail EmailDeliciousDiggStumbleUponRedditFacebookSlashdot

With the introduction of four new specialized Atom processors (as well as two new system controllers to accompany them) Intel is looking to put their wildly popular Atom processor into more platforms. Notably, they’re making a push for internet-pones and in-car devices.

The processors, which are made from the same 45nm manufacturing process as their siblings, aren’t too different from the others that already exist. The processors, which will clock between 1.1GHz and 1.6GHz will consume very little power, and fit perfectly into a whole myriad of industrial options.

So who knows, perhaps in the coming years not only your computer, but your car might have Intel inside.

avatarI forgot this is also in

I forgot this is also in development. The Atom Powered Power Vanity mirror. Now you can look at yourself in whatever style you want. This sits next to the Atom powered Power Review Mirror. With the touch of a button and a twist of a knob and the crank of a handle the Atom Powered Review mirror will adjust so to reflect the highest intensity beam of light back at that asshole that is right behind you with his fucking high beams on. What accidents that happen behind me are none of my concern. Some people deserve to fucking crash.. There..

avatarThey can use the Atom

They can use the Atom processors to increase the performance of the built in Cigarette lighter. This little processor will turn your cigarette lighter into a smart cigarette lighter or something. You tell the lighter that you want to light a Cigar and your lighter will get very very hot enough for a cigar and for cigarettes a little less and there will even be a joint setting.

avatarWhat's funny is now MPC and

What's funny is now MPC and Intel will have to start benchmarking new Ford F-150's and such. HAHA, i see it now...."the ford f-150 only scored 8.9 sec in the 1/4 mile and 12.6 FPS in crysis...impressive", but the "Chevy silverado scored a 7.7 sec in the 1/4 mile and 13.2 FPS in crysis so we give it a 9 in the tail pipe!"

All benchmarks were done on a straight paved road with 93 octane fuel and a 800x600 native rez with no AA. Whatever.....lol

avatarbare minimum

with the cost, free space and power of todays cars, i want MORE POWER

as cool as it would be to have a computer in my car, i couldnt justify paying what is a ridiculous price premium (assuming this since just about every extra on cars today is way overpriced) for a low power cpu.
