Google Launching 2-Step Verification Account Log-ins
Google has announced today that the 2-step authentication system that was rolled out for Apps users a few months back is going to be available to everyone soon. This system will dramatically increase your account security to hopefully alleviate the risk that your account could be hacked, or your password phished. The set up process will only take about 15 minutes, and makes use of your mobile phone.
In the coming days, you will see a new option in your Google Account settings called 'Using 2-step verification.' You will need to add a phone number, and create backup codes should you lose your handset. After you are done, you will have to enter a code that Google calls with or texts you to verify that you are indeed the one accessing the account. You can choose to do this only once per 30-days on each PC. There will be apps for Android, iOS, and BlackBerry as well that can generate the code.
It is a little bit more hassle, but the increase in security will be huge. When Google makes this available to everyone, will you set it up?

Nope. Definitely not giving my phone number, nor adding to my daily hassle...this is opt-in, so I don't have to if I don't want to.
I've got a sufficiently cryptic passphrase, and I typically don't use the same phrase on different sites (you'll have to hack me pc to get all me passes) ...people still get taken by phishing?!

Nope, won't ever use it, and if they force it on me I will dump them. I don't have a phone that I can do this with, and even if I did, I wouldn't.

No. Not giving Google my phone number. I'm just fine with my account the way it is.
