This post is WAY off topic but I can't seem to find an email address for the people responsible for the design of this website.

I have to say, I love the content of the website and appreciate the efforts of the contributing authors. However, this website has to be the most poorly designed website I've ever used, especially considering this is a tech publication after all.

I'm constantly being harassed to "Continue to MaximumPC..." - I'll get done typing a comment, hit Preview and then whack, get the "Continue to MaximumPC..." freakin page which loses my entire comment only to have to re-type the WHOLE damn thing all over again.

Or, I finish reading an article, hit the back button and guess what I get? "Continue to MaximumPC..." - WTF?! So I hit the Home link at the top and guess what? I either get "Continue to MaximumPC..." OR a landing page with site navigation as if I'm the one having a hard time negotiating this shitty site. Yeah. I'm frustrated.

Ad blocker (or equivalent) is getting installed pronto.

Do you have any browser settings or plugins that block cookies or scripts (adblock, noscript, etc.)? I don't know for sure, but I think the website keeps a counter of some sort of how many page views you've made, and only shows those ads after so many views, and if you're blocking cookies or scripts you may actually be seeing the ads more frequently because the counter doesn't work.

I use Chrome without any plugins or anything and I've never had any of the issues other people seem to have (ads while commenting, double posts, etc.). Maybe I'm just lucky.

I'm a web developer (not for MaxPC, their developers are indeed crap ;)), and this is why I'm not a big fan of these plugins (adblock, noscript, etc.) or any browser plugin that manipulates web site code for that matter. It's completely unpredictable, and there's way too many variables to have any sort of success testing your web applications against browser plugins.

If there's concerns about obtrusive advertising (adblock) then it's my belief they should be addressed through standards compliant web API's (like requesting the user to play sound). Or if there's concerns about JavaScript security (noscript) then they should also be addressed through standards compliant web API's (eg. cross domain scripting rules).

@Cregan89 - Thanks for the thoughtful reply.

That's the stickler... I have used both IE (9,10) and Chrome and both exhibit the same behavior. For the most part, I post on MaxPC at work only because I'm in front of my PC all day and it's just convenient. When I get home, I'm rarely online (playing a game or something). At first, I chalked it up to the over-zealous Kaspersky policies we have in place and our Sonicwall effing with the traffic. At home, my setup is pretty simple and use the same browsers (sans Kaspersky, I use MSE). I don't do anything with cookie-blocking or anything because nothing irritates me more than a crappy browsing experience. It's been my experience that when people do that stuff, they get flakey results with webpages begin displayed correctly and what-not. Same as you, I do not use any plugins or anything, plain as it can possibly get.

I've gotten in the habit now of copying my replies just in case I get the "Continue to MaximumPC..." and have to paste it back in. pathetic. lol

While the editorial staff doesn't have anything to do with the ads on our site (we still encounter the same ads you do), these issues shouldn't be happening and hopefully our web development team can work out the bugs. Sorry for the mess in the meantime.  :/

Believe me Jimm... I know you guys have nothing to do with it which is why I felt terrible leaving the comment. At the same time, I couldn't find an email address to vent this on so... here it is.

Like I mentioned, you guys (editorial staff) do a fantastic job, it's the designers that need to get a clue.

Thanks for responding :)

Ditto, though its only happen to me a few times. Would be nice if they used disqus or something similar to that.

Same thing happens to me and I can agree 100%.

Ad blocker is the way to go bro.

Thanks - I don't want to have to use it on a site that I support but at the same time, my sanity is worth much more. lol
