The Athlon 5350, is it comparable to a Pentium or lower end Core i3 CPU? Honestly, I'd love to throw games like DOTA2 and LoL at it, see how they play.

It would most likely fall somewhere in the middle of the two you mentioned, however the integrated graphics would be leaps and bounds above Intels

Well lets see...
a cheap comp for each of my kids to play Minecraft on, a little home server, an HTPC...damn these computer prices really add up :)

I was gonna say "Those crappy clock speeds", but then I realized these are for mini-itx boards. No thanks, I'll stick with my big old mid tower desktop PC, which if all goes well I plan on upgrading significantly in the coming weeks.

This isn't targeting an "lol ultra I337 haxor" build. This is first and foremost a low-budget low-power platform targeting emerging markets and things like HTPC and home servers.

This would make a great little personal webserver / NAS platform. Toss in FreeBSD or Linux with LAMP, throw in a RAID card and a few disks in RAID 5 and you're set. Graphics can be used for setup and just SSH for maintenance... now all I need is web content people would actually be interested in...

The build here is pretty low cost until the words RAID card show up :P
