I'm not too sure, but I'm gonna hazard a guess that Paul's Japanese assistant wrote the subtitle for this article.

It doesn't appear as though there's any need for me to upgrade from what I have.

I'd be more interested in knowing when Mantle is going to be patched into Sniper Elite III...

Unless you're packing a low-end CPU with a high-end GPU, it's not going to get you much of a framerate boost.

Not that the game is demanding enough to need it anyway on a high-end system.

I'm pulling well over 100 FPS currently in the game but I would prefer to play with Mantle. I also hope that when they add Mantle they'll add more graphical settings to the game as the graphics menu is more barren than I'd expect from devs who made their own game engine.

So far the only game that I have with Mantle is Thief and that just isn't a fun game at all. The sound bug is horrid.

I guess I won't be upgrading from Catalyst 14.4 then...

Would still love a fix for the R9 290 blackscreen issue. Know its either a firmware or driver issue because mine is underwater and it stopped blue screening 5 minutes into a DX11 game by setting the fan to 100% and then turning down the target temp to 80. Makes no sense since my card is on water and never gets above 50C. Never got blackscreens on fur mark.

The Mac

add 25mv, they should go away.

Its a memory voltage scaling issue.

"Is no longer support Windows 8"

Looks like someone has been reading too many " I can has" memes! XD

You know I made another PC with spare parts I had around but had to get a GPU so I choose an 280x... Well, let me tell you is a very good GPU which so far is running great on everything I have thrown at it. Even the equivalent of the GeForce Experience is better on AMD due to achievements you can get for free games and other stuff... It's kind of shitty to know that the Nvidia Gameworks things it undermining AMD but if they are able to up their GCN thing to successfully battle technically or legally or administratively then Im sure to get a AMD GPU in the future.

You also have to give them credit for uppping their game on the Linux driver side, too. AMD linux drivers used to be terrible but not anymore.

That subheadline made me double take.

Me too...

Windows 8 at least lets you get security updates from Microsoft

"Upgrading" to 8.1 might get you Catalyst drivers but leave you exposed to security issues since Microsoft ended support for 8.1

If you want drivers AND bogus security, you need to get the 8.1 update as well
