Quanta Computer builds the Kindle line for Amazon. I wonder if Google will take a hard line with HTC over this, like they did with Acer, being that HTC is a member of the Open Handset Alliance. Members commit to building one Android platform, Google's,and are forbidden to ship devices that run forks of Android. Remember when Acer tried this with Alibaba's Aliyun OS? Google told Acer to shut down the project or lose its access to Google Apps. This is why you do not see Acer, Dell, Lenovo, et al building the Kindle as they are all members of the OHA. Now we wait for Google's response.

I've not had any experience with HTC but Amazon has been solid with their Kindle line (we own three different ones) and the ebook market.

I've yet to be impressed with any phone from HTC.

Youve clearly not played with the One. Its an amazing piece of engineering.

I have an S4 btw.

Agreed. The One actually impressed me quite a bit. I own an S4 as well, and on paper it's faster, but you wouldn't know it by playing with the One. I was especially impressed with the camera.

I must admit I am confused by HTC... just six months ago they said "we're getting out of the superphone market and competition and concentrating on economy entries for asia"

suddenly now they're talking up their 6" phablet phone, and a partnership with amazon is rumored...

did I miss a page somewhere?

I'm happy they stuck with the smartphone market. I like Sense more than I do TouchWiz and Stock Android. Motorola's almost vanilla UI would be my 2nd pick. I like the build quality and BoomSound speakers of my HTC One and the camera is really good despite what Samsung fanboys keep saying (they're getting to be just as bad as Apple iPhone fanatics if not worse).
